4-Island Combination: Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii & Maui

Set off on an exceptional journey to the heart of the Hawaiian archipelago, where each island reveals its own unique atmosphere, from idyllic beaches and spectacular volcanoes to lush, tropical landscapes. From the buzz of Honolulu to the wild scenery of Kauai, via the striking contrasts of Big Island and the gentle way of life on Maui, this multi-island itinerary invites you to immerse yourself fully in adventure, relaxation and unforgettable discoveries.

To ensure the stay reflects what you are looking for, two holiday durations are available:

12 nights: 3 nights in Honolulu, 3 nights in Kauai, 3 nights on Hawaii and 3 nights on Maui

16 nights: 4 nights in Honolulu, 4 nights in Kauai, 4 nights on Hawaii and 4 nights on Maui

Your detailed itinerary

"E komo mai", a warm welcome to Hawaii! After arriving at Honolulu Airport, collect your hire car and make your way to the hotel.

Overnight at the hotel.

Oahu is the third-largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago; it is the island of choice for the young at heart looking for an authentic experience, as well as for anyone in search of entertainment and leisure. More than 80% of the state's total population lives on Oahu. It is also home to the capital, Honolulu, which has around 400,000 inhabitants.

Overnight at the hotel.

With its famous Waikiki Beach, Honolulu is the vibrant heart of the Hawaiian Islands. Waikiki is dominated by the iconic Diamond Head, a volcanic crater rising to 232 metres (761 feet) above sea level. In 1825, British sailors mistook the glittering crystals embedded in the volcanic rock for diamonds. The name stuck and, today, Diamond Head crowns Waikiki Beach like a diadem.

Overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Honolulu Airport, return the hire car and fly to Lihue on the island of Kauai. Collect the new hire car and drive to the hotel. The island is small enough to drive around in less than a day, but it is well worth spending a few days there to explore. Waimea Canyon, a vast, majestic valley covered in tropical forest, is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, and driving is the only way to reach its many viewpoints.

Overnight at the hotel.

Please note: for the 16-night combination, departure will take place on day 5 and there will be an additional night and full day in Honolulu.

Visit Pearl Harbor, headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet, or head to the North Shore to discover Sunset Beach, where waves of up to 10 metres crash onto the shore, making it a favourite spot for surfers. You might also consider a stop at the Polynesian Cultural Center, designed as a living open-air museum. In the heart of a faithful reconstruction of traditional homes from Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Maori New Zealand and ancient Hawaii, you will discover the history, traditions and culture of these far-flung Pacific islands.

Set off to explore the island independently, or treat yourself to a helicopter flight along the 3,000-foot cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. Gazing from the air at the jagged, lush green peaks of the Na Pali Coast feels like discovering a land where time seems to have stood still.

Overnight at the hotel.

Explore the island’s lush tropical setting and its remarkable natural heritage. Travel down the Wailua River by kayak or opt for a boat excursion. This gentle river journey takes you slowly upstream along the Wailea River, where the exceptionally dense tropical vegetation lining both banks offers a truly spectacular sight. The cruise leads to the Fern Grotto, a vast cave carpeted with ferns and renowned for its outstanding acoustics.

Overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Kauai Airport, return the hire car and fly to the Island of Hawaii, also known as the “Big Island”, famous for the active Kilauea volcano. Collect the hire car and drive to the hotel. Thanks to its diversity, Hawaii is probably the most fascinating of all the islands, offering something new to marvel at every day. Despite the presence of the modern world, the vast stretches of unspoilt nature found here are astonishing: snow-capped craters rising to almost 4,000 metres (over 13,000 feet), volcanic cones, subtropical forests and vast plantations of pineapples, coffee and flowers.

Overnight at the hotel.

Please note: for the 16-night combination, departure will take place on day 9 and there will be an additional day and night in Kauai.

The south coast is home to Poipu, where there are many beautiful beaches. Drive through a “tree tunnel” or go and admire Spouting Horn, a blowhole formed by ocean waves forcing their way through the volcanic rocks.

Cross the Kaʻū lava desert to reach Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. There, you will discover a series of volcanic formations, cooled lava tubes where you can walk comfortably upright, as well as forests filled with giant ferns and petrified trunks. Crater Rim Road starts at Volcano House and circles the entire site.

Overnight at the hotel.

Take the scenic northern route along the Hāmākua Coast towards Waimea and North Kohala. Stop at the Waipiʻo Valley Lookout to enjoy breathtaking views (access to the valley floor is restricted). Continue to the Pololū Valley Lookout and consider walking down to the black sand beach, if the weather and your fitness level allow. Explore the charming artistic town of Hawi.

Head to Kona Airport, return the hire car and fly to Maui, where palm-fringed sandy beaches and lush tropical rainforests await. Collect the hire car and drive to the hotel. On the way to the hotel, consider visiting the Iao Valley. Covered in tropical vegetation, steep high cliffs rise up on both sides at the end of the Iao Valley; in the centre, the Iao Needle, a sheer mountain peak, stands as the valley’s emblem.

Please note: for the 16-night combination, departure will take place on day 13 and there will be one extra free day and an additional night in Hawaii.

Drive along the picturesque Hana Highway, a 64-mile road generally referred to simply as the "Road to Hana", which links Kahului to the town of Hana in eastern Maui. This route follows the entire coastline, passing hidden waterfalls and crossing 59 bridges (46 of which are single-lane); it winds around numerous mountains and passes close to a black-sand beach, a red-sand beach, as well as various panoramic viewpoints and bays.

Overnight at the hotel.

Head to Molokini, a partially submerged crescent-shaped volcano that is home to abundant marine life. Once there, you can go snorkelling among manta rays, turtles, octopus and reef sharks.

You can also make the most of one of the many other beaches and snorkel independently to explore the underwater world, teeming with tropical fish and turtles.

Overnight at the hotel.

The journey ends with the return of the hire car at the airport and the return flight.

Please note: for the 16-night combination, departure will be on day 17 and you will enjoy an additional day and night in Maui.

Climb the dormant volcano that dominates Haleakalā National Park, on the west coast, to enjoy breathtaking views of the neighbouring islands. To watch the sunrise from the summit of the Haleakalā crater — which rises to an altitude of 3,000 metres — advance booking is required. Outside these time slots, visits to the crater are unrestricted. Just before the park entrance lies Hosmer Grove, an area home to Australian eucalyptus trees, Japanese cryptomerias, Himalayan cedars, North American pines, red firs and junipers. Several viewpoints punctuate the route before reaching the summit of Red Hill. The Haleakalā crater is the largest dormant volcano in the world. Its inner dimensions are approximately 12 km long, 4 km wide and 915 m deep. Several hiking trails allow you to explore these landscapes.
