Here, visitors can explore the Chogosonshi-ji temple complex, renowned for its enormous tiger statue and lantern-lined paved paths. Mount Shigi offers a variety of activities, including forest hikes and panoramic views of the Yamato Plain from the temple's main hall. You can even stay in a temple (shukubō) for a unique spiritual experience. The site is accessible from Nara by train and on foot or by shuttle bus, and is ideal for experiencing an authentic and little-known side of the region on a half-day to full-day excursion.
