Most of the country's catering professionals buy their produce here, which is why it's constantly bustling with activity. You'll find all kinds of fruit and vegetables, from the best-known to the most original. Return to our hotel at the end of the tour.

**TOUR OF MUSEUMS AND ECCE HOMO MONASTERY

Discover the main sites of interest around Villa de Leyva. The El Fossil Museum, where you can admire a 120-million-year-old Kronosaurus fossil, proof that long ago there was an ocean as far as the eye could see instead of this place. The archaeological park will teach you about the beliefs of ancient peoples with its Muisca calendar formed of monoliths, and the massive Monastery of Santo Ecce Homo will invite you to enjoy the calm and beauty of its architecture.

BARICHARA'S CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC WALKING TOUR

Visit to the town of Barichara, situated at an altitude of 1,340 m. Many artists and artisans have taken up residence in this haven of peace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll along its cobbled streets, churches, and parks and enjoy the view of the Suárez Canyon. The tour ends with a visit to one of the local artisans' workshops: painting, paper craft, sculpture or tobacco, depending on what you are interested in.

WALK TO GUANE

Following an ancient path, El Camino Real (the royal path of Spanish colonization), you'll descend to the small village of Guane, where life seems to be cradled by an ancestral rhythm. Its whitewashed cob houses, stone streets and small archaeological museum will take you back in time.

Visit the archaeological museum (closed Mondays and Saturdays) and return to Barichara.

BOAT ON THE CIENAGA DE PIJIÑO

Picturesque landscapes teeming with birds and reptiles to be explored by traditional boat.

Boat trip on the Magdalena River. Discover the Pijiño marshes, take a dip, and observe the flora and fauna. The sunset is a magical moment. Return to Mompox in the late afternoon.

If you like authentic destinations off the beaten track, then this excursion is for you. Afternoon departure from your hotel for La Boquilla. Return to Cartagena around 7:00 pm.
