DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN SAN JOSE

Welcome to Costa Rica! Our local representative will meet and assist you at Juan Santamaria airport for your shared transfer to your hotel in San José.

Check in and enjoy your first night in Costa Rica.

DAY 2: SAN JOSE - TORTUGUERO

Early morning departure. At the agreed time, meet at the hotel reception desk for a transfer to the magnificent Tortuguero region in the northern Caribbean. Tortuguero is one of Costa Rica's most popular ecotourism destinations. Established in 1970, it was created to protect endangered sea turtles. The rivers and lagoons of the national park are a unique paradise.

En route, stop in the town of Guápiles for a Costa Rican breakfast in a local restaurant, then board the boat for Tortuguero. This boat transfer takes place in the heart of the rainforest. As you cruise through the canals, you'll admire natural landscapes in various shades of green.

Arrive at the lodge for check-in, make yourself comfortable in your room and enjoy a delicious breakfast. In the afternoon, meet your guide for a tour of the charming town of Tortuguero. This small town, which has a population of around 500, has no cars and is located on a narrow strip of land between a beach and a canal. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Caribbean; Discover its inhabitants and way of life as you stroll through this colourful area. Overnight in Tortuguero.

DAY 3: TORTUGUERO

Breakfast included at the Lodge. At the agreed time, join the guide for a nature walk along the Lodge's private paths and discover the flora and fauna that inhabit this magical place.

In the afternoon, after lunch, enjoy the splendour of nature as you cruise the canals of Tortuguero National Park by boat and take photos of the jungle. Discover the park's network of canals, lagoons and dense rainforests on a guided boat trip led by an expert naturalist. Tortuguero is home to an abundance of wildlife, including 57 species of amphibian, 111 species of reptile and 60 species of mammal.

DAY 4: TORTUGUERO - SARAPIQUI

At the agreed time, you will leave and continue the journey by boat from Tortuguero, then by bus to the restaurant in Guápiles, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch.

Continue on to your next destination: Sarapiquí, a region famous for its incredible biodiversity and a dream destination for adventure-seekers. When you arrive, make yourself comfortable in your room and relax.

DAY 5: SARAPIQUI

DAY 6: SARAPIQUI - ARENAL

Breakfast included at the hotel. At the agreed time, transfer to your next destination: La Fortuna de San Carlos, home to the magnificent Arenal volcano. Prior to December 2010, Arenal was one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. There have been no lava eruptions for some time, but you can still see smoke billowing from the summit.

DAY 8: ARENAL - RINCON DE LA VIEJA

Breakfast included at the hotel. Transfer to your next destination, the Rincón de la Vieja volcano region, one of the most beautiful and biodiverse areas in the province of Guanacaste. Spanning over 34,000 acres, this region is home to two volcanoes, 32 rivers and streams, and an incredible variety of flora and fauna. Rincón de la Vieja is characterised by its diverse tropical forests. Exotic flora and fauna find refuge here. These include kinkajous, pumas, monkeys, sloths, tapirs and jaguars. The Rincón de la Vieja volcano is located around 15 miles northeast of Liberia, the capital of the province of Guanacaste.

Useful things to know

Comfortable, lightweight clothing is best when travelling to Costa Rica. Sun protection, sunglasses, swimming costume, cap, waterproof jacket, hiking and tennis shoes, sandals and mosquito repellent can all prove very useful during your stay.

Practical details

If you are travelling alone, you will be asked to pay a surcharge for a single room. This additional charge will be automatically included in your quote.
Child rates will be applied for children from 2 to 12 years old in the case where the child shares the room with two adults. If the child is travelling with just one adult, the surcharge may be applied on an adult basis. If your child or children do not fit into the age group mentioned above, the rate will be communicated to you at the time of processing your order. If the room is equipped with a bunk bed, the bed height is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
For safety reasons, the wellbeing facilities of most establishments are not accessible to children under 16 years old. Similarly, it is possible that some amenities or services require an additional charge or are unavailable for exceptional reasons.

Once your reservation has been made, you will receive a confirmation e-mail before your travel documents are sent.
Regarding the transport documents (in the case of a reservation with transport included), we will provide you with all the information relating to check-in and luggage in the "Your travel documents" email, allowing you to leave with peace of mind.

Transportation

In order to best organise your time in the airport, we advise that you arrive 2 hours before boarding for a medium-haul flight, or 3 hours before boarding for a long-haul flight (more than 5 hours). Take advantage of your early arrival to pass through security and check your luggage.
You will be informed whether or not luggage is included at the time of your booking.
You will have the opportunity to add additional luggage for a fee.
There are several different cities that are typically offered as departure points. Your arrival destination will show in your travel documents.
Depending on the flight schedule, some arrivals or returns may be made at night with early arrival or late departure. You will not always be able to have your room available immediately and will need to refer to the check-in and check-out conditions of the hotel.
In the event that your transfer is not included in your hotel reservation, it may be offered at the time of your reservation as an additional option. Unless specifically mentioned, transfers may be made in groups of 15 to 55 people.
