Overview
Cavallo Point – the Lodge at the Golden Gate establishes an enchanting 'base camp' where visitors can discover the San Francisco Bay Area's best. Located in historic Fort Baker within the Golden Gate National Parks at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge, Cavallo Point is the San Francisco Bay's first national-park lodge. Here guests are tempted with exceptional activities, amenities and attractions. Within minutes, visitors can beach comb along the Pacific, ride a San Francisco cable car or hike the Marin Headlands.
Rising as a backdrop to Cavallo Point's parkland setting is the celebrated Golden Gate Bridge, with San Francisco's world-class culture and attractions just minutes away. On site, the lodge offers exciting activities and experiences. Guests can indulge in soothing treatments at the Healing Arts Center & Spa; hike scenic coastline trails; stretch in complimentary daily yoga classes; savor cuisine by a Michelin two-star chef; sip estate wines from one of California's largest cellars; enjoy the collection of original photography and art; join guided bird-watching and wildflower walks; and at the end of a wonderful day, relax in historic or contemporary accommodations. Guests may also discover enrichment via multi-day adventures and programs. Hosted by top talent, these one-of-a-kind experiences focus on three areas: Adventure & Well-Being, Creative Arts and Culinary Arts.
Although just five miles from San Francisco and 21 miles from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Cavallo Point is located near Sausalito where the urban edge turns into untamed coastal wildlands. The world-class attractions of San Francisco, Marin, the Napa and Sonoma wine country, Monterey and Carmel are all a short distance away.
Activities create appetites, and Executive Chef Joseph Humphrey's menu at the hotel's signature restaurant, Murray Circle, presents Bay Area cuisine with a French accent. In late 2007, Chef Humphrey was awarded two Michelin stars. His skillful touch showcases the bounty of local and organic farms, ranches and culinary artisans. Next door, Farley Bar is a great gathering place. A dedicated wine and olive oil center offers presentations and tastings.
Choice is integral to our guest experience, including accommodations. The lodge offers 68 historic rooms and suites in carefully restored, National Historic Landmark buildings that were Fort Baker's officers' quarters. They feature authentic pressed tin ceilings, fireplaces and oversized foyers. Many have views of the San Francisco skyline and Bay. There are also 74 contemporary rooms and suites in new buildings of 'green' design, many with spectacular Golden Gate Bridge views. All accommodations feature organic linens, flat-panel HD televisions and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The lodge also features more than 25,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, offering function rooms and outdoor areas with character and exceptional views, and space for events of 10 to 250 guests.
A member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Cavallo Point is the newest addition to the Passport Resorts collection, which includes the acclaimed Post Ranch Inn.

This place really surprised my wife and I. On a lark for our anniversary in mid July, we stayed a night and had dinner. Close to home, best meal I have had in years, and that room had me falling in love with my lady all over again. Thank you! -Pavlovs Dog, from SF, United States - 8/1/2008
