Hot water in the sink ran at a trickle. Shower water ran cold and then hot and back again. Almost shut off while my wife was using it. -James Van Laeys , from York, United States - 7/6/2009

Spring Trip to DC
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The staff at The Madison is outstanding and makes every effort to provide a comfortable and relaxing stay. A major drawback was an apparent policy of the hotel to overbook non-smoking two bed rooms. Upon check in at 6:00pm our reserved room (exterior room with city view two Q/beds w/reading nook) was not available. Initially we were placed in an interior 2 Q/bed smoking room on the eighth floor. Due to smoke allergies my daughter and I were placed in a king bed room until a double queen bed room was available the following day. The city view room with reading nook as booked, was not provided. During our three night stay, several other guests (at least five) had a similar experience. Overbooking is apparently standard practice here. The hotel is good for the location, three blocks to the metro, but not a five star property. During our trip several large groups of high school students on spring break trips were guests at the hotel. Luckily we were not staying on the same floor. -Lisa Smith , from Marietta, United States - 4/16/2009

Everybody on the staff was GREAT. We found the bed to be very comfortable.
Wish ice was available without asking. Like the coffee machine. -Ron Wroblewski , from naples, United States - 4/11/2009

Enjoyed Our Stay in the City

We were able to take advantage of the early check-in on Saturday before our matinee show at the National Theater. The staff was very nice and the room was clean and comfortable. Heated towel bars and lighted magnifying mirror in the bath were a nice touch. -Dwight, from Warrenton, United States - 12/26/2008

This used to be a grand and unique property but my room was drab and pretty cookie-cutter. -Ira, from Brooklyn, United States - 12/22/2008

The pictures are very deceiving!!! The room was very old and dated. NOT one thing matched. The rug was old and stained, the curtains were yellow and very old. The furniture was a Black/Brown. It looked like everything was just thrown into the room. They were supposed to have a stocked fridge, they did NOT!! The fixtures in the Bathroom were all rusted. Had to ask for towels, twice! Would NOT recommend this hotel as a Luxury Hotel. It looks impressive because of the doormen, and the lobby is nice, but once inside the rooms, it's a whole other feel. -Daniel Serbonich , from Endicott, United States - 10/31/2007
