While renovations and repairs are underway inside, as the city considers proposals to take over the old Tavern on the Green restaurant, hungry locals and tourists alike will soon be able to enjoy high-end outdoor food court-like dining at the Crystal Room’s former location.
Starting October 15 (from 10am to 10pm, daily), four of New York’s finest food trucks will begin serving everything from Turkish tacos to gourmet desserts at this classic Central Park location. The fantastic four will be the ever-popular Rickshaw Dumpling and Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, along with newcomers Pera (the nation’s first Turkish taco truck) and Ladle of Love (homemade soups and stews).
For foodies hungry for their favorite truck’s fare right now, there’s an app for that. Designed for both the iPhone and iPad, New York Street Food conveniently plots both vendor carts and food trucks on a Google Map of the city. Searchable categories include food ethnicity (Japanese or Italian?) and food type (sushi or pizza?).
