Dubai is about to launch the first of two lines on what will be the world’s longest automated transportation system. The above ground metro will begin service on its Red line on September 9, 2009 and soon after will begin work on the second Green line.

Dubai Metro will have 43 stops that serve both the local and tourist populations, stopping at both popular destinations for work and sight-seeing. With all of the stops available, the metro plans on transporting about 1.2 million passengers daily.

The transport association in Dubai also plans to introduce a fare card that will be interchangeable between all the transportation systems in the area. Commuters will be able to easily move between the various transportation systems in the area wherever they need to go. Dubai is rapidly growing its industry, attractions, and now transportation, making it truly a top destination for both business and leisure travel.
