Four years after closing due to Hurricane Katrina, the legendary Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans has re-opened.

Ten feet of water closed the Roosevelt for years before it was purchased by Hilton, brought into the Waldorf-Astoria family and given a $145 million renovation. The reopening of this historic hotel marks a great milestone of progress for the restoration of New Orleans’ hard-hit tourism industry in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The reopening of the Roosevelt also captures an era of opulence and glamour that had been previously lost as the hotel aged. Many stories of celebrities and politicians from the 1930’s took place at this hotel, and it has now been restored to its original grandeur along with substantial meeting and ballroom space, helping to bring conventions and events back to New Orleans.
