Hotel Intercontinental Paris

France has finally succumbed to the 5-star system used around the world to classify hotels. Beginning next month French hotels can apply for 5-star status, which will replace the current four stars available to top luxury hotels.

While French officials say most people recognize the outstanding service of France’s top hotels and thus do not book based on star status alone, it is important to recognize the impression luxury travelers have of a 5-star ranked hotel. While the definition of a true 5-star hotel varies by destination, there is a common recognition of excellence attributed to this select group which many French hotels will now belong.

In addition, France will eliminate the Zero-Star category moving to a scale of 1-5 instead. This ideally will create a more easily recognizable and standard guide for tourists to follow as well as going a long way to justify the high rates many of the current top 4-Star hotels charge for their high quality luxury and services.

One Response to “France: Luxury Hotels Get 5th Star”

  1. Star rating definitely help the tourists to select the best option to stay. Though France’s top hotels are already famous for their superb standard but after getting Five star label, these hotel will serve their guest with approved service standards. I hope, like the past, all the good hotels of France will continue to lead the path of hospitality industry.
