Virgin America airlines have really taken off recently, and here at Perfect Escapes, we thought we should share our latest luxury travel crush with you.
Recently, some of the Perfect Escapes team (including our CEO) flew on Virgin America to get to a convention in Las Vegas. When they came back, the topic of conversation wasn’t necessarily the results of the convention, but the outstanding flights they had to and from.
Virgin America prides itself on being different, changing standards to offer amenities that everyone likes and wants. Much like the growing standard for hotels to offer in-room ipod docking stations, wireless internet and other gadgets, Virgin America supplies fliers with in-seat entertainment (mp3’s, and movies to purchase on demand), outlets for electronics, and “room service”: food that can be ordered directly from the entertainment screen and is brought directly to your seat.
Virgin America also picked up on customer policies that airlines like Southwest have been doing for many years, treating people like people and not like cattle. When our CEO’s flight from Vegas was delayed by 3 hours, no one got upset, threw a temper-tantrum or threatened the safety of the gate officials. Quite the opposite, people remained calm, happy and patiently awaited their flight. Why? Because rather than hide from an angry mob of fliers, Virgin America chose to connect with the waiting persons, keeping everyone informed and updated, and generally acknowledging their human presence, which we all know is definitely not the standard among most airlines.
While the airline currently only flies between six U.S. cities, the routes are quickly increasing and Virgin America is becoming a major competitor in the areas where they do fly. Combining the low costs of the budget airlines and the luxury and convenience of the larger airlines, Virgin America pleases even the most discerning travelers. Besides, what’s not to like about the only airline that sets the mood not only in price and service, but with specially designed mood lighting in the cabins as well.
