Nice Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I arrived a few hours early and they had a room ready for me. They actually upgraded me to a junior suite and the amenities were nice. Comfortable room, great location to Union Square, and although the hotel was right next to the trolley the noise level was okay. Thanks Orchard...I would definitely stay here again in March 2010. -Karen Kitcheyan , from PHOENIX, United States - 11/11/2009
Not a Luxury Property
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Orchard Hotel is in a good location, provides basic services and has a pleasant staff but it is certainly not a luxury property. It was impossible to get water warm enough for a comfortable shower at any time of the day or night. There was always the feeling that the management was trying to save money and cut costs in any way possible. I would not stay here again. -Phillip, from rancho palos verdes, United States - 10/28/2009

My Nightmare
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I had guaranteed the stay with my credit card, and I was to stay there the night before I visited the Cancer Center. I was lost and called the hotel for directions. She had me turn into a one-way street with cars coming at me fast. Luckily there was a driveway I turned into, but it was a close call. So shakily I made it...the valet took my car where I saw it was going to be $40.00 a night to park - (Did not know that) - Then I asked if I could then pay in cash. Even put a deposit, but they wanted $400.00 cash deposit - I didn't have that much on me - But I had enough to pay for my room and the parking. I had $260.00 cash on me...They were so rude, not helpful - Just one male bell hop had any compassion - I paid $10.00 for my car and ended up at the Courtyard Marriott on the other side of the bridge. I still have the shakes, and the face of the woman on the other side of the desk burned into my brain. Nightmare! -Marlyssa, from Penn Valley, United States - 9/8/2009

Orchard Hotel San Francisco
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
To the right of the front desk are trophies honoring the Orchard Hotel as being singled out as one of SF's great places to work. It must be true because the staff simply act as if they really do like working there. That, in turn, makes them agreeable. The staff truly were consistently service oriented, but not because someone was compelling them to be so. These are genuinely nice people. The hotel is spotless; 5 blocks from the BART, and located 2 blocks from Chinatown, 5 from the Wharf, and surrounded by restaurants of all types. I'm booking next year, as well. You couldn't do better. -Frank Hunyady 2, from Newport News , United States - 7/14/2009

Beautiful hotel in Union Square district - got a free upgrade to a suite room, incredibly priced.
Also is a green hotel, and has lots of nice amenities. Strong recommendation. -John, from davis, United States - 6/24/2009

Always greeted warmly, good service by helpful staff. Quiet, yet tucked near the city center. Always assured of a good rest after a day's outing. My preferred stay when in San Francisco. -Jerry Soh , from Singapore, Singapore - 6/4/2009

Had a wonderful stay at the Orchard, the upgrade along with the great wine was a our stay in the wonderful city of SF. The staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel itself has a great location and the looks were first class. Can recommend with both thumbs up! -Ilkka Jaakkola , from Turku, Finland - 5/5/2009
Great Location and A Lovely Place to Stay
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This is a really lovely hotel to stay in. It is very central and convenient to the Union Square area and has a lot of restaurants close by. The rooms are large, with a big bathroom and are extremely clean. Excellent quality white linens and fresh decor make the rooms very pleasant. Staff were friendly and very helpful. -Ruth Hughes , from Ardee, Ireland - 4/26/2009

Stayed for the Easter long weekend.
We didn't get a room upgrade until our last night when the manager wasn't there and the front clerk honored our request.
When we asked for an upgrade the first night the attendant said there was a room available for an extra $100.00. We explained it was part of the "Perfect Escapes" package [on availability] and he said he would ask the manager. He returned saying there wasn't a room available.
Also they did not provide complimentary wine and chocolates until prompted.

Property Review
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I liked this property, however, I would not put it on the luxury level.
For example, we were upgraded to a suite, but there was only one bedside lamp in the bedroom. Despite asking for a second bed/side lamp, none was available.
Only on the second day of our stay, did I realize that by booking through Perfect Escapes we were entitled to a bottle of wine and chocolates. I called down for them and the staff brought me two small bottles of port.
However, the staff was always very friendly. The rooms were clean. Not sure why they tell you that thing about the towels, though. New towels every day. -Sally Shaffer , from Zurich, Switzerland - 1/5/2009
Nice Suprise
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My husband I were pleasantly surprised. We arrived early and our room was not ready but they gave us a free upgrade, stored our luggage and called our cell phone as soon as our room was ready. Hotel was clean, friendly and in a great location. We were able to walk to everything if not the cable car is in walking distance also. We will return. Nice little breakfast place on the corner. -Bruce Capagli , from Roseville, United States - 12/29/2008

Excellent Staff, always helpful and cheerful. Good Location, near mass transit, cable car and walking distance to Union Square. Very clean and updated throughout hotel. The breakfast included in the price was very good.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

What a find! Very pleasantly surprised by the large room - was not expecting a suite-setting. Loved everything from the plush & ultra-comfy bed, the exceptional hair & skin products and the fantastic breakfast in the morning. Walking distance to China town, Belden Place & Union Square. We had a fantastic night and wanted to stay longer. -Donna, from Paradise Valley, United States - 10/28/2008

We found Orchard Hotel to be a great hotel. The location near Union Square and Chinatown was very convenient. The room was clean and quiet and the front desk staff very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The only downside was that the free bottle of wine provided was terrible and not drinkable. -Joanne, from Edmonton, Canada - 10/20/2008
Oustanding Service and Location
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We will recommend this to anyone traveling to San Francisco for the first time. Located just North of Union Square, it also happens to be right on the corner at a cable car stop that takes you directly to Fisherman's Wharf! An Alamo is a short half block away for any day trips and the staff is ready with directions and ideas to make your stay outstanding. We were absolutely thrilled! -Kim Ross , from Edmonton, Canada - 10/14/2008
People Make Places

With the exception of the doormen and the bartender, all personnel were unfriendly and unwilling to help with directions and suggestions. Training of the personnel apparently is focused on efficiency, forgetting the human element.
Carpet in the room was old and in need of cleaning... Chose the hotel because its size promised individual treatment of its guests...This was not the case.
A total disappointment! -Luis J Cruz , from Caguas, Puerto Rico - 9/16/2008

Excellent Deal!
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The customer service was excellent, the rooms clean and spacious (for a "boutique hotel") and the location ideal. We very much enjoyed and appreciated the great "extras," including an unexpectedly expansive selection of DVD's available for check-out at no cost, the early check-in and late check-out, and the kids looked forward every morning to the not-your-average complimentary continental breakfast - the croissants and scones are fabulous - in the hotel restaurant. -Dianna Sumabat , from Lynnwood, United States - 7/7/2008

We've been to San Francisco for part of our honeymoon trip (it also included Las Vegas and Los Angeles). We absolutely loved the Orchard Hotel! Staff was VERY professional, yet kind and willing to help. The room was really comfortable, as well as the bathroom, with lots of space. We received a room with a street view, but there was no noise at all!! The location can´t be beat and overall, that was a perfect choice for us!! -Michelle Rebello , from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - 6/26/2008

Since this was my first Perfect Escapes hotel experience, I don't have another one to relate it to. However, I did enjoy the fact that it was a smaller boutique-type hotel and those are usually preferable to the big hotels. Location was a plus for getting to and from all over SF. -Glenna Sparks , from Manhattan Beach, United States - 5/27/2008

I was having a difficult time finding a reasonable rate for the B2B weekend before I stumbled across this Perfect Escapes deal. The Orchard Hotel is perfectly situated for exploring San Francisco. The room was nicely sized and the bed was comfortable. The Continental breakfast buffet was a nice bonus that allowed us to splurge on some big ticket meals elsewhere. The extended late checkout was a real bonus for us too, as we got to enjoy the craziness of the event for as long as we needed. All in all, a great weekend and a good deal on our hotel stay. -William, from Venice, United States - 5/22/2008

This charming hotel was in an excellent location - walking distance to everything we wanted to see and right on the street car line for things farther away. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly, and the rooms were beautiful, spacious and clean. The included continental breakfast was the best we had on our trip! Combined with the excellent rate we got through Perfect Escapes this hotel was a Perfect 10! -Catherine, from Calgary, Canada - 5/22/2008

I hate to give a good review for egoistic reasons, but this property is so nice that they really deserve it.
The rooms are nice and clean. Free WiFi. Excellent food. Excellent service. The staff in all levels is extremely helpful. Good location. A real Boutique Hotel. I wish one like this in every destination.

We had a very comfortable stay at the Orchard. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were well kept and the free breakfast that was offered was decent, so it was a good deal with the hotel accommodation.
It would have been great if they had offered free Wifi, however they did have free internet available at reception. -Jade Pham , from Cherrybrook, Australia - 4/1/2008
