Overview

The hotel's indoor pool was closed when we checked in on 7/3 at noon. When we returned from our day out seeing the town, the pool had re-opened. We went to the pool on the morning of the 4th and found that the pool was too cool to swim in and only the jets for ones feet working in the hot tub part of the pool area.

Great Experience

I had an excellent time at the Intercontinental hotel. I was in the executive room at the corner of the building, so the view was marvelous. I wouldn't mind staying again. The location was great since there is a Westfield mall behind the building, and a cable car station is very nearby as well. There are 2 movie theaters: The Metreon and a theater within the mall which are both just a few minutes away. Service was great and the rooms are very modern, which I enjoy very much. It was clean and the stay was just memorable.

Great big room with plasma TV, friendly staff. A few blocks from Union Square, so if you don't mind a little bit of an extra walk would definitely recommend this hotel. Great big king bed, very clean and roomy - even gave us a free fruit platter on arrival! Would def stay again. Even thought we didn't use it, it looked like a great gym and indoor pool.

I'm barely writing this review one year later but I still remember my stay here at the IC. The staff was extremely friendly and very accommodating. Was out late at night and ordered room service at about 3am and it came piping hot. The modern lobby, rooms, bathroom, and everything were extremely clean. The room had the 42in. TV, but didn't see much use because we were out most of the day. The room we received was a corner room with a great view but the only downside was that it was facing the the city and not the bay.
Also it is a little bit South of all major attractions such as Union Sq., Chinatown and sorts but it is in SOMA.

Easy central location for SF. The rooms were new and very clean. The hotel was very quiet and professionally run. The only down side was the parking was CRAZY expensive at $49 per night.
Overall the hotel was a fun experience for my wife and I.

It is new so that is to be expected. I am a Priority Club Member but they did not acknowledge me as one. I found out through chatter in the elevator there is a lounge for members on the 6th floor. The rooms are fabulous. I was in 3019 and had an incredible view. The flat screen TVs are a plus except analog stations are king of blurry. Room service was prompt and the food was pretty good. I will stay here again and tell my friends about it. The lobby is small compared to other hotels I have stayed but it is beautiful.

Stop! Grappa Time!

I just got back from a weekend getaway at this new InterContinental in SOMA. It was very nice--modern and elegant without seeming pretentious. I felt like it was a place for people who used to love W hotels, but are now looking for someplace a bit more subdued. At this hotel you get a really swank grappa bar (with a grappa list that's as big as a phone book) and a very upscale restaurant that gets extra style points for the smokey globe chandeliers and the decanter drying stations. Go for the ribeye steak. I did. Medium rare. As for rooms, ours was a junior corner suite with floor-to ceiling windows on literally half of the walls (including a giant window in the bathroom. Exhibitionists rejoice). The views were spectacular. Decor (think: early '80s, but classy not cheesy) and amenities (think: really good in-room coffee maker) were all great. All in all, a great new addition to SOMA.
