The, in 2002, newly renovated resort seems almost like a castle from a fairy tale with a view of the surrounding mountains. It was originally built in 1864 as St. Moritz's first Grand Hotel at the fountain of the Mauritius well - trend setter and spectacular - then & now. This sophisticated resort is situated amidst the sportive centre of St. Moritz and it charms its guests with an extraordinary idea came true - a Grand hotel of the savoir vivre.

Upon check in we discovered that our reservation was made for 1 rather than 2. The manager was quite rude & said we'd stay in the single room but be charged for an additional breakfast. That wasn't a problem, but we were also charged an additional 100chf per day for extra towels & blankets though we received no extra towels & blankets-we had one twin comforter spread over a queen bed & two towels.
Our first night I was up all night due to snoring in the next room. It is shocking how thin the walls are in what purports to be a 5 star hotel. At 2:30 I called reception asking that we be given a new room in the a.m. After a sleepless night & re-packing all our things, we went to reception & asked that our things be moved to our new room & our car brought around while we ate breakfast. When we returned, not only had our car not been brought around but our room had not been moved. We had to wait until they sent us to what turned out to be a much smaller room.
