The grounds are lovely and so peaceful. We loved the layout of our room. The setting is calming. The staff was friendly- but I thought the reservation people at the resort were not good. They spoke too fast and were seemed to be in a big hurry to make the reservation, rather than making sure the guest knew what he/she was getting. I did not make the reservations through the hotel.

The Food

The food was terrible. Perhaps because it was the bar menu only they did not think it needed to be decent, but it was terrible frozen food, still costing gourmet chef prices. It reflected poorly on them, we will not go back.

Amazing Getaway!

The view was amazing, the rooms luxurious, the service great. My girlfriend can be picky but this time she was blown away. And there's a lot more to explore, next time we'll stay for longer than one night. The only downside is the city shuts down pretty early, so plan on eating earlier.

Good Hotel but Rooms Are a Long Way Away From Amen

This hotel is spread over several acres and whilst the rooms are large and comfortable the layout would be more logical to have the fire in the living room rather than the bedroom and have the television on a stand rather than kitchen work top. Provision of basic cutlery would have been appreciated as well.
The rooms are a long way away from the pool and the gym - hotel suggested we call reception when we wanted to use them and they would arrange a lift. Discouraged use as it had to be planned rather than impromptu.

Stinky Room but Good Food

Our first room stunk so bad of a septic tank we were switched, but only when I asked the second time. However, food at the Citronelle restaurant was so good that while having dinner (before we were switched to a different room) I was thinking that the food alone was worth the stay even if we had to put up with the horrible toilet smell in our room. We ate at some of the best restaurants in Napa on this trip and in my opinion, Citronelle is better than most of them.
I was surprised to find the room spacious, although a little dated, for the price. You are in fact getting a suite: a living space with a bar, two TV's and two fireplaces. The bathroom is huge also. The grounds are lovely and the resort is in the sun belt so you have gorgeous sunshine when it's all gloomy in Carmel-by-the-sea.

Beautiful setting and incredible sights!
Loved the spaciousness and coziness of our suite. Being able to sit by the fire with a cup of tea and delicious homemade cookies (part of the turn down service) was a nice way to wind down before going to bed.
We also tried the hotel restaurant - Citronelle for drinks and appetizers and although the food was good we could not help but feel that they could have used at least one additional wait staff. There was only one waitress tending to 7 tables - needless to say the service we got was not as personalized or timely as we expected.
We feel it would be important for consumers to be notified in advance (and/or at the time of reservation) of this hotel's "service/gratuity' charge of $25 per night. We were surprised to find out at the time of check-in that this would be added to our tab and although we highly value the importance of recognizing outstanding service we feel that we as the consumers should be deciding when, who and how much to tip

Get Away and Relax

Good sized rooms overlooking the golf course and hills. Wood burning fireplace (wood supplied) large bathroom, jetted tub, big shower, small walk-in closet, table and chairs on the balcony. The in-room massage was great. The lodge was under construction but the staff did the best they could under the circumstances. They were able come up with off the beaten path spots to eat that served excellent food. Not to crowded and yet fun. It was just the kind of trip we were looking for, relaxing,a good bed, good food,a few interesting people and time to just lay in each others' arms and decompress. Candles , flowers, wine, massage and a little chocolate can go a long way to making it a very special time for both of you.

Within 72 hours of the guest’s scheduled arrival, all deposits will become non-refundable.
Special Event Cancellation Policy:
Stays booked during the ATT National Pro Am Golf Tournament and the Pebble Beach Concours D’ Elegance require a four-night minimum stay and advance deposit of room and tax for the guest’s full stay. Within 30 days of the guest’s scheduled arrival, the deposit will become non-refundable. Please note that dates for these events may vary from year to year.
