Overview
Imagine a New York City stay at a New York City hotel right in the heart of the city's renowned theater district. Inspired by such a central Manhattan location and typical of a Kimpton Hotel, The Muse New York offers comfort with creativity, service with style, and logic with luxury.
This New York City luxury hotel, a stylish four-diamond property, features 200 uniquely styled guestrooms and suites that are sinfully spacious by New York City standards. Making its home in the beautifully renovated, historic Leavitt Building just steps away from Times Square, The Muse New York draws guests in, past the arched, limestone-and-brick façade. Invites them to daydream on the whimsical, overstuffed sofas and black velvet rolled-arm lounge chairs in the lobby. To call to the nine muses, found in the commissioned mural on the vaulted ceiling, fifteen feet above. To imagine the artistry of New York City's historic and modern-day musicians, performers, painters, many of them just around the corner from the hotel. All the while, enjoy features like the adjacent District restaurant and the Mini Bar lounge, the upscale amenities and personal service.

Personnel is OK but not too helpful, rooms have great beds, nice furniture but not maintained properly(toilet was leaking!!). Definitely not 4 stars, maybe 3. -Jeno I. Fabian , from Calgary, Canada - 1/7/2010
Exceeded Our Expectations

We stay in NYC hotels frequently. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Room was "just right"- not too big, not too small. Bed was extremely comfy. Wi-Fi worked well in our room. Bathroom was nice size; nice amenities. Room equipped w/ safe, mini-bar (which we never touched), desk, iron and board. Chaise lounge. Complimentary coffee in lobby all a.m. and wine @ 5-6 p.m. One block from Times Square and TKTS, which we took advantage of for a Saturday matinee. Close to the energy of B'way, but quiet retreat, at least on the 16th floor, where we stayed. We got a great rate through Perfect Escapes, which enhanced the value of this purchase. Overall, aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, clean and hospitable. Kudos to The Muse and Perfect Escapes! -James Curry , from Toms River, United States - 11/25/2009
Cant Beat It!

Hands down this was the most convenient, contemporary, clean hotel I've been in, in NY! More geared for younger crowd (30's), very professional staff! I wont stay anywhere else in NY after visiting this hotel! Price is slightly high, but u get what u pay for...esp in NY! Room was perfect size. -Thomas Viveiros , from fall river, United States - 11/19/2009
Small but Great

Like most NY hotels, the room was a little small, but overall it was a beautiful hotel with excellent service and amenities, not to mention the outstanding location. Would definitely stay here again! -William Ariano, from Crownsville, United States - 10/30/2009
A Lovely Stay Totally Spoiled by A Rude Bell Boy
 | | Overall rating: |  | Value rating : |  |
We had an awesome time in New York. The hotel was perfect in terms of enabling us to maximize the enjoyment of our stay - a stone's throw from Times Sq., great restaurants all around, a short stroll to 5th Ave. - what more could we have asked for?! Generally, the staff were also extremely pleasant. Unfortunately, the hotel was let down by 1) the room service (never replenishing key items we had used) and 2) the bell boy that was extremely rude to us as we left. On the latter point, we had already tipped the concierge that hailed our taxi for us - I can only assume that the bell boy, who lifted our bags into the back of the taxi (5 seconds work) also expected a tip. Unfortunately, our last few $$ had been given to the concierge hailing the taxi! There was no need for the bell boy to shout out "don't y'all ever come back here" as we left. I'd identify the culprit and have him dismissed. Other than that, this is a great hotel. We'd never go back because of that though! -Simon Beckett , from Melbourne, Australia - 4/25/2009
The Muse

A very warm and inviting hotel in the heart of the theater district which allowed for easy access to a fulfilling nightlife, dining and business at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. I highly recommend it. Although the hotel lobby was undergoing renovations the staff was very gracious and offered complimentary wine in the evening and breakfast in the morning. The sheets were especially cozy and inviting. -Roseanne Ricciardi , from Brooklyn, United States - 4/1/2009

Booking through PE has been a joy this past year and with now multiple stays at The Muse, I've got nothing but raves about the hotel.....Great rooms, amenities and in particular just plain out fantastic people. You're made to feel welcome and invited from the moment you pull up. The front desk staff have been just terrific in check-in and trying to accommodate every wish. The requests for dining and show help are met with absolute first rate recommendations and careful consideration. Cory in particular is just amazing in her role as virtual hostess, concierge and guests'-right-hand. She's a gem. -David Bertha , from haddonfield, United States - 12/17/2008

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and eclectic, but not ever the top eclectic- it was tastefully decorated. The whole experience was comfortable - especially the bed!

What a Bed !!!

My partner found this hotel on tripadvisor.co.uk and having read the reviews we decided to look for a good package. I found an offer with Perfect Escapes for 4 nights over a weekend which included a room upgrade and late checkout if available. We arrived early for the check in and the room that had allocated on the 16th floor (only 19 floors) wasn't ready so we went next door to an Irish bar for a drink. We went back at 15:15 and the room still wasn't ready so we had another drink. When we went back at 16:00 the receptionist was very apologetic and then gave us an upgrade to a spa suite on the 18th floor. What a room and what a bed, we've traveled to some fantastic 5-star resorts around the world but none had a bed to match the comfort of this room, just simply fantastic. The room was also very spacey with 2 plasma TVs and the bathroom with a spa bath for 2 and separate rain shower with a recessed seat was also superb, especially for New York. What an upgrade to a $900+ tax a night roo -David Stephens , from Sandhurst, England - 6/29/2008
Ideal Hotel - Great Location

The Muse hotel is the perfect holiday hotel. Location is about 3 mins walk to Times Square. Rooms are very nice and surprisingly large for New York. The bed was amazing - huge and cozy. Great big plasma screen TV. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Great Irish pub next door for a night cap and a fab diner just around the corner for breakfast. -Ashley, from Glasgow, Scotland - 6/3/2008

Really enjoyed our stay at The Muse. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for a reasonable price. The room was very comfortable and chic. Being British and liking my tea the only thing I would request to improve my stay would be in-room tea/coffee making facilities. -Lisa Marley , from Ledbury, England - 6/1/2008

Unfortunate Construction
 | | Overall rating: |  | Value rating : |  |
The room was great, ambiance and staff were awesome. Unfortunately, there was construction going on in the lot under our room...they struck bedrock on our first morning at 7am and ruined any chances of getting any sleep or even staying within a block of the building the vibrations and explosive sounds were so bad. Not the hotels fault, but I would still recommend staying away for a couple of months until this new building is done. -William Willis , from Denver, United States - 5/27/2008

Friendly and helpful staff, tastefully furnished room, great location. The best stay I ever had in Manhattan. Will in the future always try to stay there. Clearly beats the big chain and many more expensive hotels.
Bellman very helpful; organized limo pick-up for our luggage before picking us up in front of Lincoln center. -Roger, from Erlenbach, Switzerland - 5/12/2008
Very Very Disappointing
 | | Overall rating: |  | Value rating : |  |
Air conditioning was so noisy it was impossible to use at night;
Towels - all of them throughout our stay- were of extreme poor quality and smelled strange;
No bathrobes, no slippers were available;
Wardrobe was tiny and crammed with clothes on sale and an ironing board;
No accessible socket: to charge our phones we had to use the toilet ones.

One Complaint
 | | Overall rating: |  | Value rating : |  |
Hello, I just have one complaint about my stay. The plumbing!! In the mornings my toilet wouldn't flush. And when I was showering, the water would randomly turn off and then start back up again scalding me with super hot water. For $400 a night, the plumbing should work better!
Loved the Moet, and the bed was super comfy. -Jaunna Lessard , from Kingston, Canada - 4/21/2008

Muse Hotel Review
 | | Overall rating: |  | Value rating : |  |
The Muse Hotel sets a warm, intimate, modern atmosphere upon first walking through the door. The greeting at the concierge desk was very friendly and check in was fast and efficient. All hotel staff were accommodating and friendly. The room was small (New York) but not cramped - actually, the size was quite perfect. Every inch of the room was well planned and beautifully decorated. The bed was fluffy and comfortable and it was such a pleasure to sleep in it. The evening turn down service was a nice touch. I loved the L'Occitane toiletries. The bathroom was clean with all the necessary amenities. This is a very lovely hotel and I would stay there again. -Donna Proszynski , from Lambertville, United States - 12/27/2007

What a great hotel. The staff would do anything they could to help you. The room we got was huge. It easily accommodated three grown women on a shopping trip to New York. We came in with three bags and left with eight huge ones with still loads of room for us to move around. Fabulous place!! -Wendy Derval , from ABERDEEN, Scotland - 12/18/2007
