The Plaza offers 282 distinctive guestrooms, including 102 suites, which boast the largest square footage of any luxury property in New York. This was a special occasion - my wife's 60th Birthday Celebration. I wanted everything to be perfect, and the Fairmont Plaza made it so. From the pre-check-in communication I had with the hotel, the Bellman who greeted us at the curb and knew it was my wife's birthday as soon as I gave my name, and the professional, efficient young woman who checked us in, greeting us by name as we were handed over to her by the bellman. The 24/7 butler service was absolutely perfect. I had arranged with the concierge for flowers to be placed in the room prior to check in. They were there and beautiful.
Some things to work on. The service in the Palm Court was a little ragged, but we understood - the hotel had opened less than a month previously. The kitchen needs careful attention if it is to reach Fairmont's 'Best of Class' standard. And finally the flowers were not charged on my checkout invoice.
