Not Bad

Only used as a stopover from the airport. Not cheap but room size & layout were a nice surprise after walking through the tatty entrance. Carpet also needed a clean & after a long flight on the previous day we were disappointed to be woken very early by building work next door.
Overall the staff, hotel location & size of room made it an enjoyable stay.

Poor Service, Poor Management, Won't Stay Again

Deluxe Ocean View Junior Suite is not having ocean view at all. There is no point arguing at all with the front desk. Initially I was made to stay in Contemporary and you need to go all the way out of the balcony to get the view of the ocean. I then asked to move me to different room and I was switched to Retro which had a decent view. However, Retro according to me is not well maintained at all.
There is no "Do Not Disturb" sign in the room and the rooms cannot be locked so that anyone can enter the room. As a result "House Keeping" entered the room when I was getting ready.
Even though bench is provided on beach and is supposed to be there till 5 it closes at 4:30ish.
Kitchen utensils were not cleaned. Staff is well short and you need to call 4-5 times to get things done.

I paid for 2 rooms with full sea view - didn't print that out and regret that. We got room with partial sea view.
In addition paid for extra keys that should have been deducted at the departure, which they did not do, and it was impossible to get a refund.
Nice hotel, but they need to specify better what room you get when you are doing the reservation. Very different service level on beach staff, mostly not very good.

This was the first time that I've made reservations to stay in South Beach - wow - what an incredible choice of hip hotels to choose from. Picked The Strand based on TripAdvisor reviews and a good rate on Perfect Hotels website and was not disappointed. Stayed in the contemporary building and did not have a chance to check other the other style buildings, but I was not disappointed at all. Nice spacious room with cool furniture and a nice little kitchen area right in the middle of everything. Unfortunately there was a storm blowing in and you could not enjoy the rooftop pool due to the high wind, but I can see why the views from the pool area get the raves that they do. I will try The Strand again the next time that I'm in Miami.

The hotel can be considered as very good for its category. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped. The staff is excellent.
The pool has a great view and the beach service is also a great point to those that intend to go to the beach.
The extra fees not mentioned but mandatory when you check in (services rate) is the only think I would complain once if mandatory should be included in the price!! Didn`t like it at all when I was told about it.
Concluding I would recommend this hotel if you are not looking for a luxurious hotel in Miami Beach.
