Great Escape

We loved the relaxed atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff. Lovely setting and calming surroundings. It's not a Ritz Carlton style hotel but a wonderful place to relax and find serenity and forget the hustle and bustle of life. Would definitely return for the wonderful spa facilities. -Winn Forkner , from Cartersville, United States - 4/30/2009

Just returned from 4 night stay over Valentine's weekend. VERY relaxing. Loved our room. Its basically a boutique room with 50% more space. Ipod, flat-screen, walk-in closet, great view from balcony. Grounds are beautiful.
Staff are helpful. Service is pretty good. Tip early and service improves considerably. Room wasn't cleaned until mid/late afternoon each day, but we didn't mind one bit. The one day we called to have our room cleaned... it was serviced within 20 minutes.
A note: quiet at night... also 24 hr pool. A great retreat from all other South Beach fun.
Booked trip on Perfect Escapes. PE upgrades were a nice bonus.
I would recommend this site and The Standard to everyone. I'll add that I'm very picky.
Loved the pool. Spa and gym were just OK. -Tim, from Chicago, United States - 2/18/2009
Nice Hotel, Terrible Room
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Standard really is a well done property. Every aspect of the design and decor has been considered and executed stylishly. The pool is also amazing. It would be nice if they set aside more chairs for the guests. There were lots of people hanging around who weren't staying at the hotel. The complimentary spa and optional extras is a real treat. Those things alone make the value amazing. The two drawbacks were the service and the location of our room. First the service was terrible. I understand that the staff gets pretty beaten up in the course of a day. But it seems that the hotel opted for style over substance. Nice looking people who weren't up to the challenge of the demanding clientel. Second, and probably the biggest drawback, was our room's location. Behind a stairwell, under an upstairs walkway and a cafe serving breakfast and late night drinks just outside our door. Although the bed was comfortable, there was a very short window for relaxing sleep. I may not return as a resu -Bryan Wachtel , from Brooklyn, United States - 1/12/2009
Weekend in January for Young Couple
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel is generally very pleasant, located over the bay, very stylish, with an excellent spa and nice outdoor swimming pool. Most staff is helpful and nice. The rooms are far from luxurious, but with nice décor and of reasonable size. The main problem of the hotel is that the only restaurant (nicely located over the bay) is open to non-guests, who tend to come in great numbers on weekends. This makes waiting times for guests very high. The restaurant staff did not give any preference to hotel guests, nor offered the possibility for guests to wait comfortably in other parts of the hotel while waiting for availability of a table. -Paulo Bastos , from DC, United States - 1/9/2009
Overlooked the Ocean

Stayed in the Wet room for 3 nights due to the deal I found. Amazing, especially the outdoor terrace that overlooked the ocean. I've never felt so relaxed in my entire life. -Ben, from Minneapolis, United States - 5/12/2008
Beautiful Setting Away From Noise and Hassle of So

The service was excellent, the pool was excellent, the spa was great. The toiletries were miserly, and not the quality they should have been. -Leslie Dilworth , from Galisteo, United States - 3/24/2008
Not Your Typical Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This property is a great hotel for young/young spirited adults who are looking for the "old" Florida Beach charm, but with an updated facelift and feel. Beautiful pool area located directly on the Ocean. Great sightseeing in the pool area "bathing suit opional", and excellent food by the pool. Nice restaurant for lunch and dinner. Very limited menu for breakfast. Nice getaway for those who enjoy going to the spa, and then relaxing by the pool, before getting ready for a night on the town. -Deborah Lasorte , from Jupiter, United States - 11/1/2007
