Bugs in Dirty Rooms

Yes, I'm particular but I was traveling with two teens so I was OK with going to a place that wasn't top notch but come on- we had ants all over the sink and kitchen in our room-yuck. The comforters were dirty and the carpeting smelled because their was a problem with the A/C which was apparent when we returned from dinner the first night-they tried to fix it, but it wasn't working correctly- either freezing or stuffy, no medium setting. The door to the porch didn't slide shut completely, hence the bugs. When the staff was made aware, nothing was done. The toilet rocked- like tipped when you sat on it- and leaked on the floor-again yuck. There was lots more but I'm running out of room. I was aware when I booked that there was a difference between rehabbed rooms and the others and I asked for a rehabbed one-which didn't happen. Even so, they charged me for the nice one. It took several letters and 30 calls but they did refund the difference. I wouldn't risk it again.

Beautiful Hotel Except for Our Room

The food was excellent . One suggestion would be no smoking . Also enforce a dress code in the fine dining room. At least have to wear shirts and not tank tops for men. When you are spending top dollar for dining you expect people to dress appropriately. Also leave the children to the other restaurants. As for our room, once inside the view was very nice. As for getting to our room we had to go via the delivery and service route. Trucks and landscaping equipment stored there. Not a pretty sight. Bags of laundry and dirty towels in route to our room at all times. Very disappointing. At around 6:15-6:30 every morning we would awake to the sound of trucks backing up, it is a beeping sound and one I didn't expect to hear in my room. Most other rooms in lodge were updated not ours. Perhaps they shouldn't rent that particular room or at best reduce the rate significantly. Very overpriced for the accomodations we received. We tried to change our room to no avail.

Too Family Friendly

The staff at the hotel was extremely nice and helpful. But, I did not realize the extent to which the hotel would be overrun with children. There was only an adult lap pool to swim in, as the ocean wasn't swimable either. The cost was too high to have no place to swim as an adult.

Direction to the Property from North -
Directions from Miami Airport - Follow signs from airport to 836 West.Take 836 West and follow signs to the Florida Turnpike South. Once on Turnpike - continue heading South on Turnpike until it turns into US Highway 1 at Florida City. Stay on US 1 to the Florida Keys. Pass through Key Largo, Tavernier, and into Islamorada. Our entrance is located at Mile Marker 82. Total driving time is approx. 1.5-2 hours.
