A lovely and grand older hotel which sits conveniently atop Nob Hill in San Francisco near the Mark and the Fairmont. From a historic perspective, photos and old artifacts in the hotel were fascinating. The staff were EXCPTIONALLY helpful (not that common in Boston or NYC), from the knowledgeable front desk staff to the ultra courteous auto valets to bellmen and room service delivery persons. The queen size room was spacious but not huge with a great view of the Transamerica Building and bay. Three sets of large windows. The bathroom, storage and dressing area were a bit dated and tight, but the furnishings, materials and condition of the room were very nice to offset such. Good quality and abundant toiletries from a local SF area boutique provider.
Woefully, the AC seemed to be inadequate for a sunny side of the building and leaving windows open became a bit noisy. However, great location to cable cars, the Embarcadero, trolleys, sights, Chinatown, shopping, entertainment and dining -R., from Boston, MA, United States - 10/5/2007
