Not Family Friendly
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The accommodations and location are nice but staff were condescending and hotel was not family friendly. We actually felt so uncomfortable that we checked out early and moved the Hyatt Regency. I don't recommend staying at this hotel if you have young kids. -Toby Odenheim , from San Marcos, United States - 12/16/2009
Nice Hotel

We didn't get the upgraded room when we checked in but I talked to the hotel manager and he upgraded us to a beautiful one bedroom suite. We had a great time there and the hotel is very nice and walking distance to all the great places in SF. -Mojgan Valiyee , from San Mateo, United States - 12/7/2009

We Had a Wonderful Time, Could Not Have Asked for

We booked three rooms at the Mark Hopkins hotel to celebrate my Mother's 80th birthday. The staff was exceptional, everyone one we talked to or requested help from were outstanding. Our package included beautiful rooms, a drink at the Top of the Mark and a buffet breakfast. All were beyond our expectation. -Patricia Glass , from San Jose, United States - 8/27/2009
A Fantastic Deal
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Our stay was perfect from beginning to end. The entire staff, down to the gentleman who came in our room to water the plant, was exceptional. The buffet breakfast at the Top of the Mark was excellent. We were so happy to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary there, it was the perfect choice. We were married in City Hall and the Top of the Mark was our special spot.

Perfect Escapes' Day/Night Package @ The Mark Hopk
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Day/Night Package is the best value imaginable! In addition to early check-in and a room upgrade to a higher floor, you're invited to enjoy The Top of the Mark's fabulous views by Day with the best complimentary breakfast buffet we've ever enjoyed (20+ hot/cold items which normally costs $28 per person) and then by Night with complimentary cocktails and a waiver of the cover charge (a value of $50 more per couple.) All served by the most gracious staff in San Francisco. Truly a value as spectacular as the views from atop Nob Hill. Thank you, Perfect Escapes! -Patricia, from Washington, United States - 8/1/2009
Great Location and Value but Poor Service
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I rarely take the time to fill these out but as a business traveler I needed to express my opinion. The property is in a great location and a SF landmark. I was VERY disappointed with the customer service and the attention to detail. The worst experience I had was at the Top of the Mark. The service was poor and all of the staff were rude. The great views were ruined by expensive drinks and poor service. In this economy I would have expected the opposite especially for a $12-plus drink. When I made mention of this at checkout my comment was basically ignored. The value and views were great, however the service was POOR! -Sheldon Alexander , from Scottsdale , United States - 7/22/2009
Amazing Everything

We had a wonderful time and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you, thank you, thank you! -Cheri Stanton , from Jenison, United States - 7/20/2009
Lovely Stay

We travel very often for business, so we see many, many hotels. We caught in USA Today a special through Perfect Escapes that sounded like a no-brainer. It was an outstanding value. We enjoyed everything about the hotel. Breakfast was beautifully served and delicious. We loved the Top of the Mark. We rested very well. Thanks to all of the very sweet staff. -Theresa Glynn , from Clearwater, United States - 7/15/2009

We found the package to be a great value as well as a wonderful stay. We enjoyed our upgrade, the cocktails as well as the wonderful breakfast the next morning. We would stay here again. -Tim, from San Jose, United States - 6/30/2009
Good for the Price.
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Stayed at the Mark for $109 a night, pretty cheap for this hotel. We were hoping for an upgrade to a higher floor (we were on 3) but at that price, they were not willing to make any change. The room was very nice, we could see the heating and a/c stuff from our window (probably why the room was cheap) but if you raise your head a few inches, the view was wonderful! Not much traffic in the side of the hallway either. San Fran was COLD but we had a wonderful time. -Barbara, from Napa , United States - 6/22/2009
Great Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Located in a great area in San Francisco. I felt very safe. The buffet breakfast was a great start to the day as well as evening cocktails at the Top of the Mark. It is an older hotel, so the rooms are not huge or ultra-modern but the service and overall elegance of the entire hotel makes up for it. I would definitely stay there again. -Christine, from Carlsbad, United States - 6/5/2009
What a Great Deal!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and had a great time. The Perfect Escapes package was wonderful - a great price for the room AND including free cocktails and an incredible breakfast buffet for two, both at the Top of the Mark. We also got a free upgrade to a suite which was amazing. Thank you!! -Jennifer Parker Dockray , from Oakland, United States - 6/3/2009

Great Locale With Great Views
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel is in a good location but on top of a high hill. It's next to the crossing of the two local cable cars but the down side is that you hear the ringing of the bells all night long till they stop running. My GF and I happened to be on the 11th floor so it was not that loud for myself as at least I'm a deep sleeper. We had a great view facing the Transamerica building and the Bay Bridge. We were upgraded to a suite-type room with a living room and table. The room was very clean. My only gripe was that they didn't have LCD TVs or an iPod dock/radio in the room. They had CRT TVs and a Bose radio system that had an auxiliary jack but no dock for iPods. Other then that the room service was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly. They also held our luggage before and after checkout so we could do more sightseeing before and after our trip. Didn't get a chance to see the bar at Top of the Mark but will make a note to do it next time. -Kevin, from San Gabriel, United States - 5/29/2009
Mark Hopkins Hotel SF
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We came to SF for 2 performances by the SF Ballet in one day. We wanted to stay the night on Saturday and relax after a day at the theater. The Mark Hopkins was our choice to cap off a beautiful day. We booked a regular room, and we looked forward to our stay. When we checked in we were told we had been given a nice upgrade to a suite. When we saw the suite we were completely surprised! The views were magnificent and there was even an enclosed terrace. I'm not sure how we were so fortunate to be given the suite, and we are grateful for that. It made our day in SF about as perfect as can be. The staff was terrific and we will happily stay there again when the opportunity arises. We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant that night, and a beautiful breakfast in the suite in the morning. Just lovely. -Ann Timoney , from San Jose, United States - 5/14/2009

Having booked through Perfect Escapes we were upgraded to a larger room upon arrival. The room was well appointed, impeccably clean, with a most comfortable bed. The views from the Top of the Mark were extraordinary. The hotel employees were always helpful and attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend the hotel. -Norman Seltzer , from Boynton Beach, United States - 9/22/2008

Lodging and Dinner
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Mark Hopkins accommodations were okay. The room was small and there is very little space to put clothing. Parking was pricey. A big disappointment was our dinner at Top of the Mark. It was a sunset special with a prix fixe menu. The view was very limited for those not getting a window seat.. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare but was very well-done- no pink, all gray. The chef had "forgotten" to make dessert and a substitute apple cobbler was finally served that could not be cut with a fork. Service was very slow and little explanation was given as to why dessert was late-1/2 hour after the coffee was served. The waiter who had a very limited command of English never checked as to how the meal was. I would not recommend this restaurant. Both the Mark Hopkins and Top of the Mark are living off their reputation. -Susan Smith , from SOUTH WINDSOR, United States - 8/26/2008
