Getaway With the Kids

We had a great New Year's Eve getaway with the kids and dog. Very dog friendly and we especially enjoyed the 5pm wine and Wii tournament. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely come in again. -Jim Doehrman , from Danville, United States - 1/8/2010

Hotel accommodations, restaurant, and especially staff were wonderful! The room was a bit small, but all other aspects were superb! -Jeannette, from Bexley, United States - 12/16/2009

Charming rooms, decorated nicely, albeit small, some of the nicest staff members around, really lovely spa-jacuzzi, steam and sauna. The gym was small but had plenty of high end equipment. The surrounding neighborhood was a little "iffy" at night but no issues. Six blocks off Union Square - plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Very happy we stayed here. -Colleen, from Los Angeles, United States - 12/13/2009
Disappointed
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Led to believe that we would have a 12:00 check-in. Room was still occupied and all housekeeping staff at lunch then; not checked in till 3pm. Junior suite disappointing; nothing but a small room with a couch. Bathroom grout was dirty, but the rest of the hotel was clean. Also led to believe that the continental breakfast was included; this is only a pastry and a cup of coffee. Room phone broken; not replaced for 24 hours. When it was replaced, we made some calls to restaurants for reservations and you are charged for local calls. Daily wine reception nice. Staff was pleasant. I've stayed at Kimpton hotels before and loved the experience; this did not live up to my expectations, especially for the price. -Gayle Barbakoff , from WELLINGTON, United States - 11/21/2009
Problems
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We had a problem the first night with the bed being uncomfortable and not having lighting on both sides of the bed. Also we booked the room because it offered free breakfast each morning and when we went to pick up the coupons on the second morning we were questioned as to whether or not we were entitled to breakfast for the second and third mornings. -Lorraine Goade , from Salinas, United States - 7/27/2009
Anniversary Getaway

We celebrated a long anniversary weekend at the SF Monaco and found it delightfully charming. The decor is artistically elegant, the restaurant wonderful, and the staff are all friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely visit again. -Doug, from Sacramento, United States - 5/25/2009
Great Stay in SF

Monaco is a boutique hotel. Its staff are pleasant and extremely accommodating. When we were given a room that we were unhappy with, we were quickly switched to a new room. There is an underused spa in the basement with a hot tub/steam room/ sauna which is great. -Neil, from Bronx, United States - 5/25/2009
Funky, Yet Elegant
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I love this hotel. I had stayed here about 3-4 times in the past and love its location and funky, yet elegant feel. The downside this time is that the staff did not know we were with Perfect Escapes and had to request our free breakfast coupons. I'm not sure we even received a room upgrade that we were supposed to receive. Beyond that, the stay was great at a reasonable price. And, we did get early check in! -Karen Davis , from Santa Clarita, United States - 5/18/2009

I just loved my stay at the Hotel Monaco. The staff were friendly especially the bartenders, the location was great and the only issue is the size of the room - it's a bit small but I guess it's up to standard in SF. -Wael Alfayez , from Riyadh , Saudi Arabia - 4/27/2009
A Great Destination

From arrival to departure the staff, front desk, maid service was fantastic. Prior to check-in, we called in advance to have suggestions for a restaurant and the concierge
recommended a wonderful place and called to make reservations. The "Bell Hop" was very helpful in giving directions and places to see. The wine tasting was an added bonus. This was our first time in San Francisco and wanted to splurge a little and it was well worth it. Great location and in a good safe area for walking day or night.

This is a fun, funky place, from the striped wall paper to the animal-patterned robes. Great dining room, helpful staff and a good location right at the edge of the arts district. We will definitely return. -Henry, from Franklin Lakes, United States - 9/26/2008
