Great Time at Auberge

We love the anenities that Auberge offered located on the sand and in the heart of Del Mar. Booking with Perfect Escapes gave us early check-in, a free upgrade and a $50 resort credit. The food was wonderful. We had a great vacation -- all in all it was wonderful! Thank you -Kelly S, from Chino Hills, United States - 4/14/2011

The L'Auberge is a very nice hotel, very clean, with excellent service. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were heated and employees there were excellent. At night the colored lights and fires there are beautiful. Also, I did not use the spa, which is apparently very nice.
That being said, I do have a few suggestions:
(1)Rooms that overlook the pool have a great view which is vastly superior to rooms viewing over the back service road, and guests should try to avoid the poor view rooms;
(2)The room refrigerator was so full of stock liquors and drinks (all for a very high price) that there was no room for storing your own drinks or leftovers from restaurants;
(3)There were no drink vending machines, so the only option at the hotel was the overly expensive refrigerator drinks or other purchase from the hotel. -Joel, from columbia, United States - 10/31/2008
Not Worth It

The view from my room was of active construction on the grounds, which included the noise of heavy machinery. After leaving I was charged $260 worth of bar charges that were not mine - they occurred three days after I checked out and after calling it was found that it was indeed another guest's bill, and was somehow accidentally charged to my card (what are they doing with my information?). It was quickly remedied, but it should not have happened and had I not been paying attention it would not have been fixed.
The staff was very courteous and the room very nice, but the package as a whole was disappointing. -Mark G, from Glen Burnie, United States - 10/7/2008

Great Staff, nice room...but construction view was most uninspiring for the same price as an ocean view! -Gregg, from Patong, Thailand - 10/6/2008

L'Auberge Del Mar is a great hotel in the wonderful town of Del Mar. A beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean and a great renovation. As of September 08, the renovations are still underway, but once finished, it will provide a great getaway within walking distance to food, fun and fashion. -Frank C, from Washintgon , United States - 9/16/2008
Still Needs Work

After an extensive and expensive renovation, we found the hotel still lacking. We compare this hotel to other luxury resort hotels and find it lacking. The pool area is so small and even with the addition of upgraded lounges and cabanas it is too small to accommodate a medium-sized crowd. The people were friendly but service only adequate especially meal service which was from a temporary location. We were given a "deluxe" room, defined as with a balcony or patio, but our room faced the construction materials storage area. We kept our drapes and windows closed at all times. We stay at this hotel since there is very little competition in the area for luxury accommodations with shuttle service to the Del Mar Racetrack. If there were another choice, we would look into it. -Brenda A, from Anaheim , United States - 8/26/2008
