Cannot review the hotel rooms - we stayed in the adjoining Residence Club, not the hotel. Typical of the Four Seasons resorts, from the moment you arrive, you are pampered by the staff, from reception & concierge to housekeeping, lounge, & facilities staff. Pool area has a separate "Tranquility" pool (outstanding views) with no children under 16 allowed. All pool areas are well staffed. Nightly live music in the lounge (& happy hour), great little spa, outstanding tennis and golf, pleasant walking/jogging trails at the Baquitos Lagoon, a short walk or drive away. The resort is near a high traffic area and some rooms may not be as quiet as others. Hundreds of orchids, both cut and potted, were placed throughout the hotel areas and the grounds were like a botanical garden. Taxi from San Diego airport is $85, shuttle $25; if you fly through Los Angeles you can take a small plane into Palomar airport, 5 miles away; Amtrak 5 miles away. Don't miss the $5.95 lobster tacos at Pellys.

* Exit airport south to Harbor Drive
* Turn left (east) at Laurel Avenue
* Turn left (north) at India Avenue, follow signs to I-5 North
* Travel north on the I-5 approximately 25 miles (40 kilometres) to Carlsbad
* Exit at Poinsettia Lane/Aviara Parkway
* Turn right (east) at Poinsettia Lane
* Turn right (south) at Aviara Parkway
* Turn right (west) at Four Seasons Point and follow signs to Hotel entrance
Transportation:
All major international and domestic airlines serve San Diego International Airport, which is about 35 minutes from the Resort. All major car rental companies serve the airport; car rentals are also available at the Resort. The Resort can arrange door-to-door shuttle service and limousines to and from San Diego International Airport.
The Resort is only 3 miles (5 kilometres) from the McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, which services corporate and private jets. This airport is served by Mesa Airlines (a subsidiary of America West), which provides commuter service from Los Angeles daily. McClellan-Palomar Airport also has helicopter services available. Two Amtrak stations are close to the Resort, Oceanside is 8 miles (13 kilometres) away and Solana Beach 10 miles (16 kilometres) away.
