Real Getaway

We enjoyed all the features this hotel offered with the exception of golf - pool and jacuzzi, croquet, adjacent hiking trails, bar and dining areas, fireplace, fitness center, etc. It felt like we were really away from it all. The building itself, with prairie style/art nouveau decor, is impressive and restful. Beautiful landscaping. There were no gaps in service or amenities. There was a coffee maker in the room, but it would have been nice to have complimentary brewed coffee available in the morning in the lobby or bar area as well.

I had the opportunity to stay at Torrey Pines on a business trip and decided it was a place I would like to return to for leisure. They have a wonderful restaurant, spa and -- if you are a golfer -- one of the most beautiful courses anywhere. The hotel has a calm quality and feels like an upscale lodge; it's a blend of both a rustic relaxed feeling as well as upscale pampering. I will continue to come back when the opportunity presents itself. I would say that this is a hotel that is best enjoyed without your little ones. We went for our anniversary but I think our kids would not have appreciated the beauty and may have been a bit bored.
