Disappointed

The room was extremely noisy. We heard noise till 2 in the morning then woke up to noise and an Indian wedding parade in the morning. The bartender took forever to get us a drink at the lobby bar and there was a wine refrigerator that made lots of noise in the room.
The hotel and location are obviously beautiful but the things I mentioned above definitely put a damper on things.

Exceptional Service

The quality of personal service and attention to detail that we experienced at this hotel was exceptional. From the moment we pulled up to valet park, to the front desk, housekeeping, lounge area, you name it... this staff is well trained to take care of its guests. We were in town for the La Jolla Rough Water Swim event on a Sunday, our check out day, and despite my mid-afternoon race the hotel graciously extended our stay until late afternoon so we could come back to the room and clean up. We will not hesitate to stay here again or recommend this hotel to friends.

This is a great older hotel by the beach. Great views of the ocean from the pool area. The staff was very courteous.

The service was superb and the location can't be beat. I have stayed at multiple different hotels in the La Jolla area and the La Valencia is now my top choice when I travel to the San Diego area in the future.

I was treated like royalty. I had a upgrade and my own butler who couldn't have been more accommodating. My view was fantastic and I would stay again without hesitation.

Lovely Hotel

La Valencia is an elegant hotel with a very solicitous staff. The massage therapists were excellent. We enjoyed the restaurants (make sure to request terrace dining) but were surprised that the wine cellar was empty of our first 2 selections! However, the wait staff came up with a lovely substitute and all was well. The location is lovely and the lounge with the large window overlooking the ocean is breathtaking.

La Valencia Hotel--Spring Escape

Overall our stay at the hotel was good to satisfactory. Compared to other high end hotels, however, the La Valencia was lacking in several respects. On three occasions in as many days we had problems with service (once in the lobby bar and twice with room service). Service staff told us they were short-staffed. Great views and location, made up for this in some respects. Our room was nice but in need of some repair (cracked paint). Upon checking in, our carpet was soaked (cleaned that morning).

We had a great time and our room was amazing. Small rooms but you don't notice and there is plenty of room in it. We had an ocean view which I would highly recommend. Pay extra and get the ocean view. Very comfortable beds with nice linens. Clean rooms and felt like you were in a home, not a hotel. Great room service as well. Amazing views and by far the best location in La Jolla. We used the outdoor spa twice which was another nice amenity. Very historic hotel.
