Beautiful Hotel Easy Walking Distance to Shops, Mu
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel itself has very beautiful architecture and everything in easy walking distance to most anything you will want to do in Manhattan. The room was surprisingly large by NYC standards and nice amenities. (Our friend in comparison, stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and had a very tiny room and the hotel lobby was always blocked off for events!). We did have a problem with the maid several times entering our room in spite of the Do Not Sign on the door, however the manager was very good about trying to make things right when we complained. We did ask for an upgrade when we first checked-in but were told the hotel was completely full which we later found out to not be the case at all - that was disappointing. The Club Level service however very nice. The manager, Jerry Maguire, was very nice and did everything possible to make our experience very pleasant. There was a wonderful variety of food for lunch and snacks with wine and champagne for the evenings. All in all, a pleasant stay. -Michael, from Santa Ana, United States - 4/22/2010
Great Executive Lounge Level, Great Location, the

Booked this hotel because of location and Exec. lounge, and both were excellent. Perfect location, close to everything and not too crazy busy. Exec. lounge was excellent, great food nearly all day, great snacks nearly all day, and beer and wine in the evening. Overall great value in the Exec. level, esp. given the ridiculous cost of even simple food at hotels (not particular to this hotel, but why are nice restaurants fairly priced and hotels right next door ridiculously priced?). Hotel however was overall so-so. Dated and somewhat frumpy lobby, rooms very dated and very frumpy, housekeeping came in our room twice with the "Do No Disturb" sign on, which I really object to. Worst was a girl at the front desk named Yuko, arrogant, snippy and condescending. The room was over $500/night, even through Perfect Escapes, and for that price I expected a warmer welcome. -Michael, from Santa Ana, United States - 4/22/2010

Fantastic Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The New York Palace is a fantastic hotel in every possible way:!!!! Our room was spacious, beautiful, clean and with gorgeous view. Location is very comfortable. Service was superb. I can summarize the hotel as pricey but well worth it for people who would like to pay a lot for things that are important to them. They won't be disappointed. -Dafne, from TEL-AVIV, Israel - 10/15/2009

Very good room with a fine view and natural light.
Excellent location for 5th ave. shopping and for moving around town. Excellent concierge service, in general excellent attention. Old fashioned bathroom was also fine. Perfectly new and clean bedroom carpet is a must for me. -Ana Patricia G, from Bogota, Colombia - 6/5/2009
A Quiet Oasis of Luxury Amongst the Bustle
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Lovely old hotel, well maintained and updated. Rooms were a good size for NY, though bathroom a bit small. Paid a $30/night upgrade just to get better view of Saint Patrick's cathedral & extra $100/night for executive level (higher floor) & lounge access. Lounge was lovely. Food was hit or miss. Full help-yourself bar was a particular savings considering the cost of a martini in Manhattan. Free soft drinks, bottled water, beer, juices, etc. Breakfast was the best. Concierge not as helpful as expected for such a nice property. Misinformation, and lack of volunteered advice, such as the 3 hr. long lines at the Statue of Liberty, and the need for advance tickets to avoid, might have been nice to know when I spoke to him about it. Also didn't have much pull at restaurant reservations. We ended up at their own Gilt French restaurant. Great food and Service, but unreasonably expensive with $8 soda pops! Was I in Paris? Maid service was also hit or miss. One turn-down maid was down -Susan, from Sugar Land, United States - 6/4/2009
Hotel Exceeded Expectations

The service, room and food exceeded expectations. The view from room 2020 was perfect and all amenities were as well. The best service I have received in a New York hotel in many years and the ambiance and location are perfect. It has been renovated since my last stay and it shows. I will come back several more times. -Barbara L, from Rochester, United States - 5/11/2009
Good Hotel for People With Lots of Money
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Big rooms, good service, expensive breakfast. Location good except after 8pm there's not much open on Fifth or Madison Avenue. Wouldn't pay $400/night, but for $250-280/night it's worth the price. -Hasan, from Vantaa, Finland - 9/8/2008

One of the Top 5 Hotels in Nyc
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Again, 10 years later still an outstanding hotel. One of the top 5 in NYC. Great midtown location(51st/Madison). Walk to Rockefeller Center, central park, shopping etc.......A modernized old world atmosphere. We stayed on the 31st floor in a corner suite facing St.Patrick's Cathedral. Great open views!!!!!! Rooms were much larger than expected for NYC. Service was superb. The decor of this hotel is ornate and opulent (in a tasteful fashion). -Adena D, from melbourne beach, United States - 5/5/2008

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous!!! This was my first time staying in a five star hotel and I'm afraid it has spoiled me now and I will want to stay in this type of luxury all the time. The view of Manhattan was absolutely breath-taking, we had a corner room overlooking St. Patrick's church. This weekend getaway was for my boyfriend’s birthday and I couldn't have picked a better hotel, he was stunned when we first walked in to the hotel and it excited me that we could stay there. -Lisa F, from FT LAUDERDALE, United States - 12/28/2007
Courtyard Marriott or New York Palace...Can't Tell
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Checked in and out on the same day. Let's start with the good... lobby and location, large room by NYC standards, good mattress and flat screen TV. The rest...extremely dusty, hair and stains soiled the linens, thin walls, old bathroom fixtures, 1970's feel to loud hallways and slow elevators, questionable carpet, generic decor. I checked out within two hours because my breathing was becoming compromised due to the dust and old ventilation system. This is not luxury and I felt bad for the rest of the people staying there. Avoid. -Lisa H, from Jackson, United States - 12/26/2007
