Felt Like Family!

From the check-in with Rich to meeting the General Manager roaming the lobby we were made to feel as if we were part of the Benjamin family! All needs were met and most exceeded!! Will definitely be back again. Try the pillow menu and feel safe and secure in a great area of NYC!!!! -Edward H, from Holyoke, United States - 4/7/2010
Comfortable

The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and responsive. The location is terrific for wherever you want to go- Subway on corner, many restaurants, walking distance to Central Park & Times Square. I can't say enough about the staff and comfort of our room. We will definitely stay here again. -Ruth A, from Great Falls, United States - 4/6/2010
Weekend in NYC

The Benjamin was situated perfectly for everything that New York has to offer. The staff was attentive, very friendly and helpful. Our room was terrific- small kitchen and large bedroom. This hotel is a perfect place to be while in the big city... -Kathleen B, from altamont, United States - 2/25/2010

This was a badly needed escape for my son and me after a rough patch for our family. We were treated like royalty. The hotel was lovely, in a great neighborhood and the staff was attentive and generous. -Lisa, from Silver Spring, United States - 11/19/2009

Service was awful. I was billed for non-existent long distance telephone calls. The hair dryer didn't work. It took an hour to get a replacement. I was promised a Sunday paper that was erroneously given away. -Michael, from baltimore, United States - 10/30/2009
Great Escape

The Benjamin is perfectly located for shopping, great dining and all that Manhattan has to offer. Many sites are within walking distance, a subway station is less than a block and cabs are easily accessible at the front door.
The staff was friendly, accommodating and professional. The two-room suite we reserved was spacious and comfortable. On the downside, the upholstery and carpeting in the room and lounge were worn and tired. It is past time for a redo!
I would not recommend spending the extra $$$ for a 'terrace'. We were disappointed that ours was just a ledge with an iron railing--standing room only. Nice hotel. I would go back.

Great Location

The Benjamin is a lovely hotel in a prime location in Manhattan, right next to a subway stop, just across from the Waldorf Astoria, and an easy $7 cab ride to many uptown destinations. Our room was small, the bathroom (including tub and shower) cramped, but everything was well maintained and sparkling clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. The heat/AC unit needs to be replaced, though; it sounds like a truck idling in your room. One point of annoyance that's not unique to the Benjamin but worse there than other places -- prices for room service and in-room snacks and drinks are absolutely outlandish. A small bag of chips that would cost $0.50 or $0.75 from a vending machine was $4.50! I'm sure it makes sense from a sales perspective -- one sale with $4 profit trumps three sales with $1 profit -- but it downgrades the image of the hotel, IMO. If these were gourmet items, fine, maintain the upscale image. But $5 for a bag of M&Ms makes you look greedy, even deceptive. -Chris, from Kensington, United States - 6/18/2009

Just expected more out of a 4 star hotel in Manhattan. Room was big but service was sluggish or nonexistent. -Shawn M, from atlanta, United States - 9/13/2008
A Great Escape

The staff was helpful from the moment of arrival to the point of departure. The room was upgraded without asking, pillow service as described, extra umbrellas offered when raining, and departure was simple. The room was large by NYC standards, clean, and quiet. The only negative was waiting for my car upon leaving. -Steven, from Bethesda, United States - 5/22/2008
We Were Lucky

Our rate of $289 INCLUDING parking was really really a find. They intend to renovate (I don't know why) and this deal won't be available again, I'll bet. 17th floor facing Lexington was quiet. Only complaint was that following a long Broadway show, arriving back at 11 PM, the bar was closing and we wished it were still open for a nightcap and a nibble. Lovely staff;no institutional feel. Many small details added for comfort. -Sandor K, from Westmount, Canada - 4/11/2008

The hotel rooms are a nice size (for New York). The rooms are neat and plush. I loved the personal touch that the hotel has as well as the selection of pillows. The staff was extremely courteous. I would return again and again. -Aleisha, from Piscataway, United States - 10/10/2007
