Overview
Hotel Gansevoort is the first and only luxury full-service resort in Manhattan’s vibrant Meatpacking District. Hotel Gansevoort offers a chic retreat from the urban metropolis that redefines the world of luxury accommodations, complete with breathtaking 360 degree panoramic views of New York City and sunsets over the Hudson River.
The hotel's 187 spacious guestrooms and 23 stylish suites -- many with seating nooks in bay windows, step-out balconies, stunning Manhattan views, and Hudson River vistas -- offer downtown chic infused with uptown luxury. Sophisticated and minimalist, guestrooms feature a color palette of neutrals and grays with a shot of blackberry.
A 45-foot heated outdoor rooftop pool features underwater lights and music, adjacent to the "plunge" rooftop bar and lounge with landscaped garden. The expansive rooftop Loft offers soaring 20- foot ceilings and wall-to-wall windows, a signature multi-level indoor/outdoor restaurant and bar by Jeffrey Chodorow. Other features include Hiro Haraguchi Hair Salon, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout hotel, complimentary business center, and Gansevoort Spa, where red-glass treatment rooms transform into private alcoves.

Bad Attitude

Went away with 5 girlfriends and booked 3 rooms. The location is great and the rooms are comfortable. We had no problems until the day of checkout. Housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30. After telling her we were checking out and could come back at 10, she came back at 9:05. They woke up my friend in another room. She heard faint tapping and before it could register and she could respond, they were in her room. At checkout, two of the rooms were accurately charged. I happened to glance at the 3rd bill and saw that the room rate was the original rate, not the adjusted discount we received later. The hotel manager refused to change it when we brought it to his attention and handled the entire matter with arrogance and completely lacked any customer orientation. He insisted we contact the travel agent to clear it up and even after having the documentation, still behaved like a jerk. I have never dealt with a manager who had so little regard for the customer. We will never go b -Ellen, from Syossett, United States - 7/14/2009

Nice-sized room for NYC, great location, very quiet at night in room. Lively neighborhood, great for walking about. Nice terrace and pool. Got great breakfast every morning with Perfect Escapes package. Charming bistro across the street, walking distance to Village, Soho, etc.... Quick taxi ride to Broadway. -Arden Kwan , from Petaluma, United States - 5/26/2009
It Was Good

I definitely enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The only complaint I really have is that the staff did not respect me as much as other guests because I am 18 and not their usual guest. -Jeffrey Victor , from Edison, United States - 2/18/2009

We got a great rate (for NYC) -- $395/night for 2 nights, in December. The hotel is great, very stylish and excellent service. Only problem was we were on the 8th floor, one floor up from their smoking floor, and we could smell cigarette smoke in our room. -Janet, from Cambridge, United States - 12/9/2008

Ideal Shopping and Nightlife Location

Hotel is in very nice and trendy neighborhood full of good restaurants, designer shops, local character. Despite this it is in a quiet location (traffic wise) and guarantees a peaceful nights sleep that is quite difficult to find in NY City. One more nice thing is a beautiful swimming pool on the roof top that is functioning also in winter and we took good advantage of this:) Only thing I regret about my stay is that we didn't spend enough time in hotel neighborhood, that is really worth exploring. -Simona Kanapeckaite , from Vilnius, Lithuania - 2/26/2008
