Overview
With its lovely leaded glass windows, richly burnished woods and luxurious fabrics, the inside of Blantyre is exactly what you would expect upon seeing the outside of the building. In the Main House, there are overstuffed chairs, fresh flowers, a light-filled music room, and rooms for private dining — all designed with the comfort of our guests in mind. The heart of the house, the baronial Main Hall on the first floor, is an eclectic mix of period pieces and treasured heirlooms specially assembled under owner Ann Fitzpatrick Brown and her mother Jane's discerning eyes.
For those of our guests who prefer more private accommodations, the Cottages are located a short walk away from the Main House. There are four private cottages – two are joined together – to choose from, each with a distinct character and its own special ambiance. Perfect as romantic retreats or secluded sanctuaries, all of the rooms reflect the same attention to detail as accommodations in the Main House. Adjacent to our four Har-Tru tennis courts and stocked with wonderful books lovingly selected, the Cottages offer a stay that can be as active or as idle as you like. When it's time to leave, we suspect you won't ever want to depart, which is exactly how we hope our guests will always feel.
A brief, brisk country walk – a mere 200 yards from Blantyre's Main House – lies the Carriage House, home to twelve guest rooms with their own special character. Named for some of the Berkshires' well-loved estates and country houses, these rooms include intriguing loft spaces, enchanting hand-painted wall murals, and the fine fabrics and furnishings that have become the hallmark of Blantyre.
