On our first night staying there I was awoken around 2:30A.M. to a noise that I wasn't quite sure I was hearing. After a few seconds, I then realized my husband was awakened also. I asked him if he heard the same noises and he said he did - it was the gentlemen in the next room snoring so loud that he kept us up almost all of the night. If he quieted down - our refrigerator was having a compressor problem and then that would run for a few minutes longer - between the two I was ready to pack our bags and head for someplace else. At around 3 in the morning my husband called the front desk and complained to whom ever was on duty that night and they expressed their concern - we questioned them to find out if the party in the next room was staying another night as we were - thankfully they were not. I just felt that when we check out some compensation should have been offered to us after all we paid the same price as anyone else did only to be kept up at least half of the night. -Lois Meyer , from Hammond, United States - 3/28/2008
Wonderful Long Week-End.

The hotel was very accommodating. We arrived very early and they gave us an extra early check-in, upgraded our room and could not have been nicer to deal with. The hotel was very very clean and that is always a must for myself and my husband. We had a wonderful fish fry in the restaurant on good Friday, was very surprising for a hotel. Would go back again and again. The spa was the perfect touch to just sit and relax. A truly enjoyable long week-end. Thank you -Carol, from Arlington Heights , United States - 3/28/2008
Beautiful Getaway

The Abbey Resort was beautiful, starting from the guest rooms to the spa and many restaurants. The bed room color scheme was very nice,as well as comfortable. The spa was the best I've ever been to. I am so glad i made my appt. ahead of time for the spa because they were so busy. I would come back again, maybe in the summer. -Margo Flaherty , from Hammond, United States - 3/24/2008
Nice Enough

Went for girls weekend. Resort is overall nice. Spa was great however, the bathrooms and showers need to be updated in a major way and were not as clean as they should have been. Love meals delivered to you poolside. Yoga class was good. Ate at both restaurants and lower-end restaurant actually had much better service. Service at higher-end restaurant was the worst if not close to the worst I have ever had world over. -Mary, from Chicago, United States - 2/28/2008

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

The Abbey Resort had something to offer for every age. We plan on returning in the summer with my children & grandchildren, where the water boats will be the highlight. But for a winter getaway, my husband and I never left the resort because we didn't have to. The restaurants were excellent, and we enjoyed the adult pool in the Spa, which is being updated soon also. I had a relaxing day including a massage and then a fun evening in their Waterfront Grill to watch the Green Bay Packers lose to the NY Giants. Being a Chicago Bears fan, it didn't matter to me, but the Grill had a 12'X12' TV in addition to other TVs, and a $10 buffet, which my husband totally enjoyed.
All together, after stopping in Lake Geneva which is 10 minutes away for a shopping spree, we had a nice full weekend and look forward to returning.
With this package, our room was upgraded and the $20 fee to use the spa was waived. -Colleen Kinsella, from Chicago, United States - 1/28/2008
Romance and Fun

My fiancé and I enjoyed our stay very much. We are getting married at the hotel later this year and wanted to experience a typical stay at the Abbey. We both visited the spa and had very nice massages. Hanging out in the indoor adult pool was relaxing. The steam room, sauna and whirlpools all worked well and were not crowded. The resort was fairly busy, but service levels were still high. The hotel had many scheduled activities including; lawn games, movie night with popcorn, bonfire complete with s'mores and the transformation of the indoor pool to a lounge with cocktails and music. The all-you-can -eat crab and prime rib buffet was amazing. There was also a very fun and talented band that played in the bar. The room we had was located on the waterfront. The bed was large and soft. Our screen door led directly out to the lawn with a view of our future wedding gazebo! We had a great sleep and enjoyed the bountiful breakfast buffet. -Faith, from Chicago, United States - 1/4/2008
