What Were They Thinking?

Appealing lobby area and upscale dining/bar environment sadly mask the appallingly small rooms which await upstairs. If you are traveling alone it's okay. However, plan extra time to get dressed or showered because the bathrooms are unacceptably small and do not accommodate two bodies at once. It's a tag team affair in the bathrooms. The rooms are well-equipped, however, beware of being escorted into an angled room where you look out onto a flat tar roof and have to walk gingerly around the bed to avoid bumping into the walls. Not impressed.

Nothing special, but a nice place to stay. Good staff. An alternative to Chicago Hotels if you are visiting the North end of Chicago or the Northern suburbs.

Orrington

This hotel was very good overall but had its problems. Comfort wise was first class, lovely and clean and good service. No milk for the coffee or tea and sent for some, told us they did not have any just a glass, which they charged us $7, a tad over the top me thinks. Very central, good connections to the metro.

Overrated

While this hotel is the best in Evanston, it's not really a competitor in the Chicago hotel scene. The rooms are renovated but not all that well. The walls are red but have no artwork on them. The King beds have night tables and lights on only one side of them, so if there are two people in the bed only one of them can read. The heat/cool fan is really loud. And the bathroom has no vent fan in it. On the other hand, the staff is very nice and the service in the Globe Cafe was excellent during breakfast. The beds are comfortable too. I have business in Evanston so will probably stay there again but if there was another choice I would take it.
