Great Stay, But --

A beautifully designed and decorated hotel with a nice hip feel to it. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful. We had to try three rooms before one was right, however. The first two faced an air shaft or alley where there were huge, loud exhaust fans from either the hotel or some other building. This does not make for a "quiet room" -- though big city dwellers may disagree. Both those rooms were larger than the one we ended up with, but all three were lovely. I liked the bathrobes, but the bathroom oddly had no exhaust fan. All things considered, I'd stay there again.

Nice Room, Bad Location

The room was nice but it was located with a view of the roof (not what I expected from the pictures) and big machines thrumming very loudly. I asked to be moved to another room and it had big machines outside on the roof thrumming too, but not as loudly as the first room. I was told they were very full, hence my accommodations. They gave me earplugs.

Great Location

This was my second time staying here and found it just as delightful this time. Within walking distance to Navy Pier, many museums and the theater district. Outstanding service, beautiful decor and special perks such as complimentary wine at 5 pm each evening.

Warm Welcome at the Monaco

We were delighted with the warm welcome and friendly attitude of the staff at the Monaco. It is a big hotel but sufficiently friendly and individualized to give the effect of a boutique hotel.

This is my third stay at a Kimpton and so far it has been the best. Monaco in Chicago can show some standards to its colleagues at Palomar in DC. Property-wise it is much better than Kimpton on Park Ave, NY.
