The Ambassador

This is a great old hotel in the heart of the Gold Coast. The package we obtained was terrific- the hotel, however, needs some tender loving care. The beds-mattresses, pillows need upgrading. The carpet in the room we were in needs to be replaced. All services were excellent and staff was very accommodating. -Diran Nahigian, from Northfield, United States - 3/29/2008
Bath Room
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Bath room to me is one of the most important parts of the hotel.
The bath tub was not cleaned and a dry and very hard hand towel was on the top of curtain rod. Water clogged up and did not drain.
Very dissatisfied.
I would not go back there. The people are not curtious at all and especially not holiday season.
No one is pleasant or smiling.

A Fantastic New Year's Eve
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We spent NYE at the Ambassador and had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year in the hotel bar/restaurant the Pump Room. The walls are adorned with black and white photos that capture the hotel's 70-year history perfectly. Service is top-notch. Our reservation included a full-breakfast in the Pump Room the next morning and it was delicious; I truly felt we got a great value! -Katheryn, from Chicago, United States - 1/7/2008
Good but Fading
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The Ambassador East is a very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly and the Pump Room restaurant is fantastic. The physical building is showing its age. The soft goods need to be replaced. Paying for internet these days is crazy. A nice hotel but it could be great again with a little updating. -Gregg Steinhauser , from New York, United States - 12/14/2007
Not Bad to Stay in When Taking the Illinois Bar Ex
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Located in a quiet neighborhood, with a big soft bed, this was a great place to crash while taking the bar. The breakfast was quite good, and the service was very attentive. If you can get it for less than $150 per night - go for it. -Boris Vaynman , from Glenview, United States - 11/4/2007

The Ambassador East is a marvelous old hotel. For the price that I paid through Perfect Escapes, I would not consider staying anywhere else. -William Roberts , from Dunwoody, United States - 10/26/2007

My husband and I stayed here approximately 25 years ago and loved the location and charm. Since then the hotel has been refurbished and is very charming and the staff is very attentive. Our room was clean, quiet and nicely appointed. The neighborhood is quiet and is in a beautiful residential area, just a few blocks away (walking distance) from the downtown bustle. -Felice, from St. Louis, United States - 10/8/2007
