A Good Experience
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We were pleasantly surprised - though a little tired and in need of updating, the hotel was comfortable, clean and in a good spot. We had booked a king room and an upgrade was not available when we arrived. They were happy, however, to move us on the second day and we were delighted with our spacious accommodation. Staff, with the exception of one rather snappy individual on the registration desk, were helpful and friendly. -Ferida, from Balwyn, Australia - 8/19/2009
Great Accommodations Cut Short

Room, staff were great! Location quite a distance for attractions. Visit was cut short by a plumbing problem at the hotel which prevented attendance at a function we were invited to and planned to attend. -Carroll Kelly, from Wilmington , United States - 8/5/2009
Needs Improvement

We stayed for 2 nights. We made arrangements for early check in and were accommodated. Staff was friendly. However quality of room could have been considerably better. Maintenance is needed. Leak in closet ceiling caused mold, same over office area. Particularly bad smell when AC is turned on, as vent is near molded area. Hot water faucet was leaking water on top of vanity. There was nothing in wet bar as stated in hotel accommodation manual. Breakfast however was delicious!

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Melrose over last 4 years of my son's education in DC. He graduated Saturday and I was pleased to stay there again. I only have a few comments concerning my stay and my unintended job (as Joe the plumber). During my stay in room 830 I was forced to keep playing with the toilet because it continually ran plus the water was slow going down the drain as well. My mom in Rm504 and my in-laws also experienced the same problems. Liquid Draino should do the trick and keep Melrose up to date. Other wise, Thank you for a great stay. -Stephen Meli, from Staten Island, United States - 5/14/2009
Front Desk and Breakfast
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Front desk manager Reggie James was delightfully friendly and helpful. Breakfast, although included was very poor, stale eggs, probably hours old, and stale croissant and bagels, coffee so weak as to be undrinkable. Better breakfasts are offered at the chain Motels these days. -Anthony Gee , from Nellysford, United States - 4/13/2009

Gave us a great room for the rate. Conveniently located. Restaurant not on par with rest of hotel facilities. Wonderful weekend while children with grandparents. -Marc, from Arlington, United States - 4/3/2009
Nice Hotel in Good Location

Large rooms, lovely decor, good location about 6 blocks to Georgetown. Not right in the hustle and bustle but close. Good shopping in Georgetown nearby. -Nancy Maxson , from Ventura, United States - 2/16/2009

Last Minute Plans in Wash. DC
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
We made a last minute decision to be in Washington DC. We wanted a nice hotel in a safe and convenient area and did not want to waste time looking for it-the answer is Perfect Escapes. They have done the selection process for you and we were confident in just selecting one of their listed hotels. We were right. The Melrose Hotel is lovely, older but well maintained. It was clean with quality amenities. The upgraded room we were given was a large suite. It was quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. We arrived late and it was cold so we decided to dine in their restaurant. The food was very good and reasonable. The location was terrific...very near the metro and Georgetown. We left Wash. by Amtrack. Union Station was a short cab ride away. We were a bit nervous since the Hotel was so reasonably priced...but it turned out to be an "excellent deal" and worth much more. I would definitely recommend this Hotel. -Donald Jeck , from tucson, United States - 12/1/2008
