A Fun Place to Stay
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This was our last “summer” escapade of the year before the snow takes over. I had been at Squaw numerous times to hit the slopes but never stayed at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn. Why did it take us so long? This is the perfect boutique property with every amenity you will need for a perfect escape gateway. Rooms are cozy, well appointed and quiet. We arrived Friday evening and tried PlumpJack Cafe Squaw Valley. The duck is simply heaven. The place is true fine dining. On Saturday, the front office (very friendly and knowledgeable, like all staff we ran into) made us a reservation for a round of golf at the newest Timilick course, I also recommend. I especially loved tenth to eighteen holes. The landscape is just amazing. The course is a good 15 minutes drive from the hotel but worth every minute. On Sunday, we borrowed some bikes from the hotel and went to Tahoe City for a drink (or two…). The bike trail is alongside the river, so pretty and a very easy side. I plan to go back. -Sebastien Trouplin, from San Francisco, United States - 10/12/2009
Excellent Service on a Long Ski Weekend in Late Sp
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I went for a long weekend with my elementary school age son. It was the first time I booked through Perfect Escapes. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a family suite. My son was pleased to have an adjacent room with a Wii System provided! The location can't be beat for getting to the slopes, getting gear from the shop next door (within the hotel) and buying lift tickets across the street. I don't have ski boots I'm inclined to walk long distances in, so location is key especially with kids! The food in the lobby cafe/bar was delicious - we ate there each night. My son enjoyed the diverse fondue and other dishes and one night I partook in a visiting vintner's pairing with a delicious tasting menu. Staff went out of their way to help - overhearing my son's quest for marshmallows one of the staff offered to pick some up nearby which delighted my son. Only flaw was the pool & hot tub seemed to be in a spring transition and were not warm and inviting enough. -Judith, from San Francisco, United States - 9/20/2009
Not So Good This Year
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I come to Squaw Valley every summer and have stayed at the Plump Jack Inn several times. I always look forward to it. This year I booked through the internet, they charged me for the first night when I made the reservation. When I checked in they tried to charge me again for the total amount of my stay before my check out date. They left the authorization on my credit card way past my check out date and my final bill. When I called to straighten out the error they blamed my bank. After several phone calls and a run around I was able to straighten out the bill. I went there to relax and found my self stressed over making sure I was billed correctly. The price on the web site is deceiving and they try to authorize way more than the room price at check in. I watch my credit very carefully especially while traveling to make sure there are no unwarranted charges to my credit. I found the Plump Jack to be quite a hassle. I left with a bad taste this year. -deborah, from vacaville, United States - 7/23/2009
Pleasant Experience

We found this hotel to be a nice change from the usual Tahoe hotel experience.
Breakfast was included and there was a good selection. Nice outdoor
dining area. Note rooms are not air-conditioned. -James, from Benicia, United States - 8/26/2008
