The Pitcher Inn has been welcoming guests since the early 1850s. Originally a simple country Inn where weary travelers venturing over three treacherous mountain paths from Granville, Lincoln and Roxbury would rest. The Inn evolved over the decades, by providing hearty meals, welcoming guests that chose the village of Warren as a quaint and quiet vacation spot and eventually becoming the Relais & Chateaux it is today.
Time, however, has been kind in preserving the Inn's original hospitality and grace. Today's Pitcher Inn epitomizes Vermont's charms with each room representing selected aspects of the state; its history, character, surroundings, sport and social structure intertwined with the comforts expected by discerning travelers.
Our location, nestled in the heart of central Vermont's Green Mountains, at the foot of Sugarbush Resort, makes it an ideal base to explore the cultural, historic, scenic and active multi-day pursuits that the area boasts year around.

Directions:
The Pitcher Inn is located in the heart of Warren village (chartered 1780, pop. 1,237), at the end of the Mad River Valley which is at the foot of Sugarbush Ski and Golf Resort, situated within a geographical area known as central Vermont and adjacent to 350,000 acres of the Green Mountain National Forest.
From New York City, Albany NY and other points south & west:
- Take I-87 'NY State Thruway' north, past Albany and Glen Falls to Exit 20.
- Taking Exit 20, go northeast to NY Route #149 heading towards Fort Ann on Route #4.
- Turn left onto Route #4 (north), crossing into Vermont in Fair Haven. Continue on Route #4 through Rutland towards Killington.
- Just before Killington turn left (north) onto Route #100. Follow Route #100 North for approx. 37 miles to Warren.
- The entrance to the village will be on your right, which is Main Street. Take Main Street through town (1/2 mile) and you will find The Pitcher Inn in the center of town on the right hand side.
From Connecticut and Western Massachusetts:
- Take I-91 north past Hartford, CT. into Massachusetts, continue past Springfield, MA. into Vermont and on to White River Junction to Exit 10 for I-89 North.
- Taking Exit 10, go north on I-89 then follow directions from White River Junction, below.
From Boston, Eastern Massachusetts & So. New Hampshire:
- Take I-93 north from Boston into New Hampshire, then bypassing Manchester, between Exits 11 and 12, take I-89 n
Transportation:
TRAIN CONNECTION
Amtrak's Vermonter (http://www.amtrak.com/trains/vermonter.html) offers a daily, direct train service from Washington D.C., through Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City to Waterbury, Vermont, arriving around 7:30 p.m. Waterbury is 18 miles (20 minutes) north of Warren. Private Taxi transfers or car rental can be arranged to meet you at Waterbury's train station (which is an unmanned station).

Burlington International Airport (BTV) (http://www.vermontairports.com/btv.html) is one of the most convenient airports to fly into. You can land in Burlington and drive to Warren within 50 minutes. Private Taxi and car rentals are available from the airport. The following cities have direct air service to Burlington:

Private Charter Flights
Montpelier's (MPV) Edward F. Knapp State Airport (http://www.vermontairports.com/barre.html) is the closest full service airport that welcomes most private charter flights It is about 30 miles (30 minutes) from Warren and we can certainly assist either with private taxi transfers or have a car rental meet you upon your charter flight's arrival.
Private Planes
Warren-Sugarbush Airport (OB7) (http://www.vermontairports.com/warren.html) has the unique distinction of being the home of the Sugarbush Soaring Association (gliding center) and is less than a five minute drive from the Inn. They welcome private planes on their 2,650 foot x 30 foot wide asphalt runway. We would be happy to collect you in person and arrange for a rental car to meet you at the Inn. Please contact us for further specific information. Overnight parking is currently $15.00 and 100 Low Lead fuel available.
Helicopters
Due to our location within the village of Warren, the closest permitted landing site for helicopters would be Warren-Sugarbush Airport (OB7).

The Pitcher Inn is a small and intimate hotel. Because of this, cancellations affect us significantly. If you must cancel, please notify us at least one month prior to arrival. That way we will be able to refund your deposit less a $50.00 booking fee. If you cancel between 30 days and the week before your reservation, the half payment becomes non-refundable. If, however, you give us less than seven days' notice, we will have to charge you for the entire stay booked. In either event, we will make every effort to re-book the room and if we are able to do so, all your money will be refunded, minus the $50.00 booking fee. Should it be necessary for you to depart earlier than your confirmed reservation dates, you will be responsible for all of the original room nights booked from your intended stay. We highly recommend travel insurance which includes a loss of deposit policy.
Nightly room rates are based on double occupancy (except our suites, 'Stable' and 'Hayloft', which are based on an occupancy of four) and include full breakfast and afternoon tea.
For stays from Sunday through Thursday nights, rates also include a three course, table d'hôte dinner (with exceptions*).
For single occupancy, deduct $75.00 per night. For an additional third person, add $75.00 per night. Maximum of three adults per room except for our two suites; 'Stable' and 'Hayloft' that can accommodate up to five adults.
Rates and packages do not include 9% state tax and 10% service charge.
Guests staying a minimum of two nights mid-week or three nights over the weekend, have complimentary golf green fees or lift passes to Sugarbush Resort (with exceptions*).
*Dinner, golf green fees and ski passes are not included during long weekends, public holidays, the month of February and between mid-September to late October. Please inquire for details.
All rates, taxes and booking conditions are subject to change without notice.
Confirmation Policy
A 50% credit card deposit of the total value of your stay (not including tax and service charge) is required at the time of booking.
Minimum Stay
There is a minimum stay of two nights on weekends (three nights during holiday weekends and foliage weekends) and five nights over Christmas.
Arrival and Departure Times
Check-in 3:00 p.m.
Check-out 11:00 a.m.
For check-ins later than 9:00pm special arrangements need to be made through the Front Desk. Like wise for early departures before 8:00 a.m., please notify us accordingly. While we make every attempt to accommodate early arrivals, we cannot guarantee room availability before 3:00 p.m. However, we can store your luggage in the event of early arrival or late departure.
Children
We welcome children aged 16 and over in the Main House. Alternatively our two suites, 'Stable' and 'Hayloft', located in the Red Barn, are able to accommodate children of all ages. Our dining room also welcomes children of all ages but we kindly request that they are seated in the early evening (around 6:00 p.m.). Special children's menus are available with advance notice.
Non-smoking Establishment
The entire Inn is a smoke free environment. Nevertheless, we do permit smoking on our exterior patios and we do have a number of rooms with balconies.
Pets
As much as we love them, our facilities unfortunately do not allow us to welcome them. Nevertheless we would be pleased to assist with arrangements at a local kennel.
