Maison Souvannaphoum had a nice colonial feel about it. The staff were friendly and helpful however the rooms felt a bit smaller than expected and hence did not quite convey the colonial feeling that one was seeking. Mosquitoes were a menace and hence even though we had beautiful balconies attached to the room we could not use them or even keep our doors open to get a sense of space. Proximity to the road from all sides meant we could hear the traffic on the road. It is fine right now when there is minimal traffic on the roads but as the destination gets more popular the traffic is bound to increase and will be a nuisance. The spa was great but lacked basic amenities such as a toilet. The food was passable. Overall the staff made a good impression and that was the highlight of the stay.
