Overview
The White Elephant, located alongside Nantucket's magnificent harbor, has been considered an island landmark since the 1920's. What began as an eclectic mix of cottages has evolved into a premier Nantucket hotel that offers an unexpected blend of island charm and sophisticated amenities that is perfect for Nantucket lodging.
The White Elephant sits serenely on the waterfront, yet is only minutes from the unique boutiques and art galleries, mouth-watering restaurants, and fascinating museums for which the island is known. The hotel consists of 53 chic, light-filled guest rooms and suites, most with working fireplaces and harbor views, and 11 garden cottages. All guests enjoy full access to the Library, fitness room, business lounge, and harborside lawn. Nantucket lodging at the White Elephant reflect the simplicity, understated elegance and tranquility for which Nantucket is renowned. Here exquisite comfort and attentive service are a way of life.
At the White Elephant, guests are treated to a rare blend of luxury and ease that is the hallmark of the hotel. Our exceptional level of personal attention ensures flawless service from the moment you arrive and continues uninterrupted until your departure. Add to this superior service a myriad of comforts found in nearly every corner of the hotel.
The Library with its overstuffed chairs and plush sofa is ideal for enjoying a glass of port in the afternoon or relaxing by the fire in the evening.
The Harborside Lawn, with its soft, white wicker furniture, offers the perfect setting for sipping a cool glass of lemonade. From the soft furnishings and crisp, white fine linens in the guest rooms, to the rich walnut furnishings of the lobby, the White Elephant radiates island grace and ease of living. Vacationing in Nantucket from its stunning location alongside Nantucket Harbor, the White Elephant offers three distinct types of accommodations. Each has a delightful character all its own and offers exceptional amenities befitting the hotel's unmatched island location.

The weather was amazing for this weekend getaway to Nantucket. The White Elephant was everything we had expected and then some. The service was excellent, and the room was very comfortable and well appointed. We look forward to another stay with them in the very near future. -Mark Hogan , from Saratoga Springs, United States - 10/20/2008
