Young lady at check in seemed to be irritated about answering questions. All other staff were wonderful. After I the left the check-in I asked the staff the same questions and they were more than helpful. -David Jordan , from Pittburg, United States - 11/6/2009

Valet Parking Nightmare
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This contemporary hotel was beautiful. Our large suite had 2 balconies off the living room and bedroom with great views of the Intercoastal Waterway. The glaring problem hit us as soon as we pulled up. Valet parking @ 25.00/day. It was basically mandatory since the few parking spots on the street were metered and had to be fed 24hrs/day. The parking staff desperately needs a customer service class. They could barely explain the policy and made it known that a nice tip will get your car faster. It was very out of place. The front desk and other staff were courteous and accommodating. Other than parking, the hotel and suite were comfortable with 2 flat screen TV's, nice breezes sitting on the balconies, a Bose compact stereo and full kitchen. It's quiet and away from the beach and Las Olas chaos, but it's only a 5-10 min. drive down A1A. We would stay here again now that I know about the parking. It was very relaxing. -Robert, from Jacksonville, United States - 5/29/2009

The rooms are spacious and well equipped. The kitchenette has a big refrigerator, but unfortunately no pots/pans to cook.
All rooms have balconies. Very good restaurant! -Bernd Blomberg , from Ahlen, Germany - 5/22/2009

OK I have to say going back to Il Lugano I was an little apprehensive, I am so glad I decided to stay here again! I even took another chance and ate at the hotel restaurant down stairs (The waiters had very poor customer service my last trip- but the food and chef were great!). This time I was very happy with how jovial my waiter was. And as always the food was scrumptious!!! And the chef was awesome. I highly recommend for anyone who goes to this hotel, stop at the bar in the lobby have a few drinks until the restaurant opens (FYI you can even go out back and lounge on the beach beds on the canal and watch the yachts go buy). Finally if it’s just two of you dining sit at the chef table where you can watch the chef prepare the food- trust me you won't regret it (they will even make you a little something special)! Appetizer pastrami & mozzarella, the mozzarella is made at your order trust me you’ve never had a fresher mozzarella.

Fabulous Boutique Hotel

I am in the travel business and must say the Il Lugano was a blast. From check in to check out. The front desk staff, concierge and the driver of the Escalade, were all very attentive and helpful. I checked in early, had my upgrade confirmed and was lead to a simply gorgeous room. Bose sound system, iPod dock, flat screen telly's, Bvlgari bathroom products, Rocher for the bed turndown. Simply put, my overnight stay was simply marvelous. The Perfect Escapes team offered a lower rate than the property offered and I would certainly use their services for future hotel stays. -Sharon Nabritt , from Brooklyn, United States - 4/4/2009

Had another nice stay. Very well run hotel with spacious rooms and facilities that make a week's stay easy: kitchen, separate living room, etc. Also, the room service menu is great as it comes from the Todd English restaurant in the lobby. Nice upscale bar / restaurant scene at the hotel as well. -Peter Goldey , from new york, United States - 3/30/2009
Fantastic Paradise With Minimal Disappointment
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This is a first class hotel. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. The rooms are gorgeous. The Cadillac Escalade will take you just about anywhere. Most places are free except for a reasonable charge to the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Just know what you want whether it be Intercoastal view or Ocean view. The pool is in an area where you get little to no sun, so for morning sun, pick the Ocean view, for afternoon sun, pick the Intercoastal. Pool is small but lovely. Don't expect to see the ocean at your doorstep though, there are buildings in between. Restaurant and bar are the best. You will never see a bigger terrace for sunbathing right from your own room. I'm going back, hopefully in October. My friends want to go too. A++ hotel. You've got to see the bar and ask for Texas Paul..he's adorable! No store amenities in hotel, but close to a pharmacy where they sell food and liquor, etc. -Linda Disanti , from CHICOPEE, United States - 3/23/2009

Spent 4 nights here recently, a hotel/condo complex that is very modern, well maintained, and friendly. The room was a 3 room suite with small kitchen, very well appointed, immaculate and comfortable. 5 stars. -Paul Amador , from New York, United States - 3/19/2009

Enjoy the Pleasures of Fort Lauderdale At Reasonab
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Il Lugano was a delight and exceeded our expectations. The room was very spacious, well-appointed and maintained in top shape. Coupled with a large terrace, one never feels like they have to get out of the room for some breathing space.
The hotel is situated just steps from the ocean on the Intercoastal. While a car is strongly suggested, one could just as easily remain in the immediate area without one due to a large selection of restaurants and shops. A Winn-Dixie store is also within walking distance for those who want to take breakfast and lunch in their suite.
Would I return...in a minute!!! This is one hotel which lives up to its hype. -Angelo, from Chicago, United States - 3/10/2009

My Stay at Il Lugano
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I must say my over all stay at Il Lugano was pleasant. The hotel was very “Art Deco Drive.” The valet-nice, front desk-nice, concierge-nice. Our suite was very nice! We arrived late and by the time we settled in, it was diner time. We decided to eat at the restaurant down stairs in the hotel. I was pleased to find out the (nice) hostess would still be able to seat us (It was 15 to closing). While we were waiting on a table we had the opportunity to meet the chef (very nice!) The food was absolutely delicious!
However wish I can say the same about waiters at the restaurant - THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! We kept getting random waiters whom only stopped by after you signaled to them! It was TERRIBLE! It is a true shame because everything else in the hotel was thumbs up. Needless to say we took the waiters' tip to the chef, we were going time him anyway.
One last thing, don't expect a true beach view! It's not on the beach front! -Shannon, from Columbus, United States - 3/4/2009

Best Kept Secret
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
A fantastic hotel. Don't consider a wait for your room upon check in, usually the cleaning crew is slow but it's well worth the wait. Make sure you have dinner at the restaurant and request a seat at the chef's table where you can watch all the activity in the kitchen. The food is fantastic. The staff are wonderful and there is a delightful young lady at the front desk that always greets you with a beautiful smile. We found this place on Price Line and have stayed there twice having a great experience both times. Thanks to all at Il Lugano! -David Reid , from Grand Rapids, United States - 2/21/2009
Great Hotel, Working on the Service
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Wow, our room was amazing, the bed was so comfortable, a nice view of the ocean, tasteful decor (e.g. I wouldn't have minded it at our home). Continental breakfast was okay; the restaurant was good/expensive but not great and service is still bumpy. The intracoastal beach is a nice place to get sun; the pool is right up against a blank wall, but it was nicely heated and the hot tub is lovely. Location is good, too. I was sad to leave--but I hope to return. - 2/20/2009
Il Lugano Is Great
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Il Lugano was fantastic! We are very picky travelers and found the service to be wonderful. We took advantage of the hotel Escalades that will take you anywhere within 3 miles for free! And we used the hotel boat to go to dinner and it was so much fun. They have a beach buggy shuttle that goes to the beach only a few blocks away. The room was beautiful with a fabulous balcony for a small evening cocktail party. The concierge was very helpful and accommodating. Nice complimentary, continental, homemade breakfast also. -Kasey, from Calabasas, United States - 2/20/2009
Hope to Be Back!

Our room was outstanding! We lucked out and got a suite overlooking the Intracoastal. We found the hotel staff to be very accommodating, especially the ladies at the concierge desk. The Escalade service was very convenient and we loved Tom our driver! The only downside to the hotel was the Todd English restaurant. The servers in the morning were inattentive and always seemed confused. The food however was good. The evening service at the restaurant was acceptable. The mozzarella appetizer was fabulous. The entrees were delicious as well. The only complaint we had about the dinner service was dessert... the cannolis were horrible! They have a new bar in the lobby that just opened during our stay. The bar is beautiful and the bartenders were very personable. -Michael Lillis , from Hamden, United States - 2/20/2009

Lovely Getaway
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This was a really wonderful property. We had the 930 ft. king suite. It was spacious and well decorated. A wonderful balcony with an ocean view. Furniture was very nice and all well coordinated. Just a well decorated, well cared for room. The staff were friendly but not intrusive. The restaurant (Todd English) on the premises was terrific for dinner. The hotel is a bit far from the main action but that was not a problem because they will drive you anywhere within a 3 1/2 mile radius with relatively little notice at no charge. There were also a few good restaurants in the area that we could walk to. The downside: if you stay here you are not immediately near shopping and activities and do have to get transportation. It's in more of a residential neighborhood. That said, we are already talking about going back. You can't beat the space and the newness of the place. -Judith Holmes , from Arlington Heights, United States - 2/9/2009

The hotel was very nice. Very clean and spacious. We had the option of a sea view or inter-coastal waterway view, however we received neither. We could see an AC unit of the neighboring hotel instead.
It was a bit more formal than I would have liked. Some people might like being waited on but it makes me feel a bit awkward.
We asked for some milky Tea bagging and they brought a single tea bag with no milk. It seemed such an ordeal to get any small conveniences delivered to the room. They returned with the tiniest milk jug in history. It looked like something from Sylvanian families. So we decided to leave the personal requests and hit the local convenience store. The hotel kindly offered a lift in their Escalade, but someone else had requested a pickup and we were rushed along and consequently didn't really find what we were looking for and felt a bit stressed out. The grumpy driver didn't help.
The TV was only terrestrial TV. There were plenty of channels, but... -Sean, from southport, England - 12/13/2008
Great Value!

This hotel was lovely! What a spacious, clean suite, complete with galley kitchen. The only thing that disappointed us was the unavailability of a bar to get a Bloody Mary in the morning. There is a bar, but it is no longer open, which seems strange. However, there is a liquor store close by, and you could buy the mix and make it yourself to drink on the lovely balcony with a great view of the Inter-coastal. It is close to the beach also. The price was great also! -Donna Noblin, from San Francisco, United States - 12/7/2008

It is like being in a spacious beautiful condo with hotel perks. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The pool and spa tub area is such a quiet comfortable atmosphere. They provide cushioned lounge chairs, towels and water with soft background music. The Cadillac Escalades are a nice touch. They took us to a fantastic Italian restaurant the concierge recommended. You definitely feel relaxed with the right touch of style! -Denise Salvatore , from Naples, United States - 9/27/2008
Beautiful and New

The hotel opened earlier this year and is in pristine condition. The room was very spacious with a kitchenette, washer / dryer, living room area, wireless internet, and a balcony. The decor is very tasteful, comfortable, and upscale. The staff was very professional and surprised me with turn down service and chocolates. Room service was a bit slow - but the food was very good. The staff was very available to answer questions and make suggestions and they have a full range of services. I did not get a chance to enjoy the pool on this trip. -Peter Goldey , from New York, United States - 9/24/2008

The hotel is as advertised, very beautiful and luxurious. The building is a mixture of condos and hotel so each room has the feel of home... HDTV, Bose sound system, kitchens, large balconies, and great areas to relax around the hotel. Chelsea & Angel were great help at the front desk throughout the stay. The hotel is across the beach a couple of blocks but not a bad walk. The area is safe but within a residential area for Florida's older residents for the most part. No Beach chairs or umbrellas are offered which would be a nice touch. The hotel sits on the coastal waterway with a nice boat adorned with the hotels name on it tied up at the dock. Cadillac SUV's are available to shuttle guests back and forth. The hotel room service closes a bit early for my likes, but is tasty and delivered in a speedy manner. I will be staying here again. -Keith Sanders , from Atlanta, United States - 7/25/2008
Il Lugano - June 2008

We stayed at the il Lugano hotel while visiting friends who live nearby. The hotel was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. all staff members were helpful, courteous, and warm. Unlike other places, hotel employees seemed genuinely happy to assist guests and make us feel welcome. Their management should be commended for having such professional and helpful employees.
perfectescapes.com is the #1 place to find the best packages for this wonderful boutique hotel!! We got a great price and will definitely be back!! With its smaller size, il Lugano guests receive individual attention and regulars are greeted by name! The free Cadillac Escalade shuttle service (3 mile radius) was awesome!
The room itself was incredible with amazing views of the intracoastal waterway. We were warned that the "ocean views" would disappoint as the beach is a little way off. So we chose a large balcony overlooking the waterway and were very pleased.
A wonderful stay at a GREAT hotel!! -Ellan Chang , from Houston, United States - 6/26/2008
