Overview
In 1900, the hotelier and impresario Lucias Boomer (best known as the owner of New York's Waldorf - Astoria) began work on what was to be the most luxurious hotel in New England. The Lenox, the tallest building in Boston the city of Boston at the time, opened its doors in the heart of Back Bay and a proud tradition was born.
Over the next century, The Lenox became a home-away-from-home to luminaries in entertainment, business, sports, and the arts, and came to occupy a prominent and cherished role in Boston society.
Since 1963 the Saunders family has been at the helm of the Lenox, overseeing day-to-day operations and a series of meticulous restorations -- including one in 2003 that earned worldwide accolades for historic preservation and design.
An unwavering commitment to total guest comfort, innovation and a strong sense of community responsibility characterize the Saunders family's management approach. The hotel's prime location makes an excellent home base to explore Boston's top attractions: Museum of Fine Arts, Copley Square, Newbury Street dining and shops, the Charles River, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Marketplace.

Service Fabulous

The service is incomparable. We felt we were in a 4 Seasons! The only request I'd make is that there by coffee making facilities in the rooms. -Maureen F, from missoula, United States - 10/8/2009
Heavy Linens

The Lenox presents heavy curtains, heavy bedspreads, down comforters. We were hot, and it was hard to compromise the "luxurious" bedding. Hotels can overdo the opulence concept, and I think the Lenox does. The staff was lovely! -Katherine M, from Elmhurst, United States - 9/30/2009

Lenox--Won't Return
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Although a pretty hotel, problems began as soon as I checked-in. The hotel refused to honor the Perfect Escapes upgrade [upgrade on availability] and placed me in a lower floor room with a view of a brick wall. Fine, it happens. But the walls were paper thin. Conversations in the next room were so plain you'd think they were standing next to your bed. By 1:00am I gave up and asked for another room. The hotel complied by giving me a smaller room, with a smaller bed, on a lower floor with more brick wall views. This time, the TV next door literally vibrated the headboard of my bed. No sleep. Won't go back. -Kurt L, from S Pasadena , United States - 5/14/2009
New Year Love

I had a really great time with my girlfriend celebrating the new year in Boston. The service was great and got some excellent restaurant suggestions. It was a great location to go out. Close to bars and other nightlife activities. Also a great place to head out to see historical sites and museums. A must go place. -Omer M, from ST-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, Canada - 2/5/2009
Short Break

Booked through Perfect Escapes at good price but didn't like the very small room--problems with TV. Reception claimed no knowledge of room upgrade system and hotel was not full. Restaurant food moderate and little atmosphere but plenty of good restaurants nearby. Hotel not as well appointed as I expected, few public rooms and very small business center -- difficult to get access to computer. Service generally good. Good location. -James, from Budleigh Salterton, England - 12/10/2008
Back Bay Gem

Combined a business meeting with a weekend away, great combination - close to downtown offices, but nice spot off of Newbury St. for dining and shopping. Staff were very courteous and accommodating, valet car recovery prompt. The room was clean, well-appointed, and the bed marvelous. Would definitely stay again. -Eric, from Stonington, United States - 11/13/2008

Service was excellent! David greeted us with a big HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! (our 40th)
and Lauren was also very nice. Tom sent us a cheese platter and a bottle of great Chilean wine. How nice that was! Anthony(?) was responsible for lighting a very romantic fire, he was very cordial and a pleasure to speak with! The ONLY issue was the COLD bathroom! -Jane C, from brockton, United States - 2/1/2008
