GREAT hotel. With one BIG problem. I could hear every footstep from the people staying in the room above me. I'm a very light sleeper and have odd sleeping hours, so this was incredibly frustrating. I would probably stay somewhere else next time, knowing that there isn't enough insulation in between the floor and ceiling. Otherwise, the room was perfect. Staff was friendly. Great location. OH - there's a nightclub in the lobby. Gets a real cheesy looking crowd. Didn't feel very comfortable walking around downstairs with all the activity. I wish the entrance to the club was on a side street, rather than right in front of the hotel. -Matthew Baron , from West Hollywood, United States - 10/14/2009

This place was happening. The club is the main attraction as well as being in the middle of downtown SD. Lots of young people, it would be awesome if I was more ready to party.
Room was very nice. Bags were dropped off prior to check-in and were not in the room upon arrival. Took a lot of time and confusion to finally get my bags...Overall it was what I expected; nice trendy rooms, young party atmosphere and moderately priced. -Zebediah Mcdaniel , from san diego, United States - 9/9/2009
Enjoyed My Stay
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My boyfriend and I spent just one night at the Ivy. We booked the room with the 360 degree view bathtub. When we arrived (about half an hour before regular check-in time), we were instructed to wait at the rooftop pool. It was Sunday so the hotel was hosting a very young, hip, and trendy pool party filled with San Diego's sexiest bods. The music was a little loud for my taste, but there was plenty of eye candy to keep me entertained. Front desk was supposed to call when our room was ready, however we finally got tired of the loud music so we checked up on it ourselves. The room was ready and they'd "upgraded" us to another room - however I requested the room with the bathtub specifically, so they moved us a few doors down to the room I wanted. That evening, we were driven to a restaurant in an Escalade and the driver gave us a free IVY music CD. The concierge was very helpful in suggesting dining options. Overall, we were pleased with the customer service and look of the room. -Sheila, from Anaheim, United States - 9/9/2009
A Chic, Clean, Luxury Boutique Hotel

Our stay at The Ivy was great. Small, clean, comfortable beds and clean European bedding, the service was wonderful. The rooftop pool is an additional treat. Although, overlooking downtown, its view is unimpressive, the pool itself has a relaxing oasis-like vibe. My only critique was the fact that the refrigerator, although well stocked, was not immaculate and the robes were not the Egyptian cotton that should have been provided by a hotel of the Ivy's ilk. We were not interested in the hotel's bar and club and were, therefore, concerned about the noise on Thursday night. Our 2nd floor room, luckily did not expose us to it for the most part and our sleep was undisturbed. We would definitely return! -Rebecca, from Brooklyn, United States - 8/31/2009
Excellent Hotel!

Our stay at the Ivy was excellent. The staff was courteous, helpful and very attentive. We would definitely stay here again. The pool was great! The hotel is intimate, trendy and close to everything. My boyfriend and I loved it here! -Marilyn Machuca , from Passaic, United States - 8/10/2009
Fabulous Stay!

The hotel was beautiful and well appointed. The rooms were very clean and the beds super comfortable. I loved the rooftop pool and bar, where I spent a lot of my time. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I've been to a lot of hotels and this one is in my top 5. The only downfall was that valet broke the suction piece for my GPS that was on my windshield. -Stacey Dorvilus , from Miami Beach, United States - 8/10/2009
Taste of Ivy

I really enjoyed my stay at this luxurious hotel in downtown San Diego. You can choose from broad variety of amenities - a cozy restaurant, decent gym with free fruit, amazing rooftop area with pool and bars, free Wifi or laptops at your disposal, or their Envy nightclub with free VIP wristbands. All comes with professional client service and spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. If you are looking for a quiet hotel at night, don' t go there as the music from their club could be heard up until 2 AM. If you can tolerate that, this will be a great choice you can make in Gaslamp Quarter. It could be a bit pricey to book via their webpage so check Perfect Escapes in advance, I found a very good deal and saved nearly $200. -Petr, from Prague, Czech Republic - 7/24/2009
Good Hotel, Good Value
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The hotel was great, and the price through Perfect Escapes was good. The only con is that the early check in, the comp upgrade [both on availability], and the welcome drink listed on the Perfect Escapes website did not actually take place at the hotel, and they said they were unaware of such an offer. Other than that, it was great. -Greg Gonzales , from Westlake Village, United States - 6/14/2009

We went there for a romantic get away for my wife's birthday. Great trip, great service. Butler drawn bath, VIP night club entrance, and nicely appointed rooms. -Niveet Nagpal , from Los Angeles, United States - 10/24/2008
Service!!!

Even though the girls at the front desk are slightly condescending in the way they treat you and look at you, the rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful. Many times we didn't have to ask for anything, such as when we were leaving we had a bellhop show up to take our luggage with out having ever called the desk. That's Service. -Garrett Honea , from North Hollywood , United States - 2/20/2008
