Miscommunication Lead to Huge Fee

I am a non-smoker, but was with a group of friends enjoying Las Vegas for the Super Bowl and they are smokers. I understood that The Platinum is a non-smoking hotel but I thought that as long as my friends restricted their smoking to the balcony of our room, it wouldn't be a problem...this IS Las Vegas after all. Well, I was wrong. We were gone the day of the game and when we came back, we were not allowed access to our room until we paid a $500 fee for smoking outside on our private balcony. Needless to say, I was VERY unhappy with this policy, not to mention the fact it was a beautiful weekend but the pool area was closed for "cleaning" all weekend, without any warning or apology. I will NEVER stay at the Platinum again! -Danielle Mckenna , from Scottsdale, United States - 2/6/2009
Disappointed

Save your money and avoid the Platinum. We stayed there last night and left this morning to take a hotel around the corner. First, you will see a beautifully decorated lobby that is very upscale, I am sure that this set me up for high expectations--big mistake. Upon entering my room, it was hot, temp out side 85 degrees, the heat was on requiring the maintenance person to come and reset, then he had to replace a filthy filter for the air handler. We had a refrigerator that was supposed to produce ice, however it had been turned off and the maintenance man had to come and turn it on. We would have loved to have a cup of coffee out on the balcony, however it was filthy and I suppose we could have cleaned it, which would have required at least an hour of scrubbing all the furniture and banister, (I was supposed to be on vacation. So we left the hotel this AM, and walked around the corner to stay at a Super Motel 8, which was secure, quiet, had a small refrigerator (good enough to keep our -Dutch, from Charlotte,, United States - 10/28/2008
Unhappy With My Stay

I stayed @ this hotel before & my experience was much, much nicer! I had 2 suites & on neither day were they cleaned! Each day I called house cleaning to request that my suites be cleaned but when I returned they hadn't been cleaned! I had to make special requests to house keeping for clean/new towels, they did bring them. But, why did I have to request? There were no cooking utensil/pots & pans in one of the suites. I had to make a request for them! Yes, they did bring them. But, again, why did I have to request them? Upon checking out I was informed that I had a $29.00 poolside tab for some drinks that was signed for by "Mrs. Jackson" There is no Mrs. Jackson & neither my guests or myself had or signed for any drinks. The checkout clerk removed them from my bill because of all of the other things I complained about actually she didn't give me anything. -Errol Jackson , from BUTLER, United States - 6/19/2008

This is a great option for those wanting luxury, but not wanting to deal with a gaming or smoking environment. The rooms are the largest I've see in Vegas for the price, and the strip is only 1 block away.
Not only were the desk clerks friendly and accommodating, but the bartender at Stir and the VIP limo made this hotel one to remember. Thanks again Platinum Hotel! -Kevin, from Salt Lake City, United States - 10/30/2007
