Overview
Since 1927 the Roosevelt has been the playground of luminaries including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe and the birthplace of the Academy Awards. Sweeping renovations by acclaimed designer Dodd Mitchell in 2005 heralded its rebirth – a place where old Hollywood and young Hollywood entwine.
A newly revamped Thompson Hotel, the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt is a playground for Hollywood's brightest stars. The historical David Hockney pool and popular Tropicana Bar are known far and wide as a "see and be-seen" spot for the industry's A-list crowd.
Better still: Roosevelt guests who reserve a Cabana room are guaranteed access to the Tropicana Bar.
Other amenities include heated swimming pool, fitness center, 24-hour room service, down-filled duvets, Frette bath and bed linens, Fresh bath amenities, and high-speed Internet access.

Room Review

The first room we were given had the worst odor, we had to move rooms. The second room I could hear EVERYTHING from outside during a party and the room next to us so it kept us up all night. The music was loud and we could literally make out conversations. Then I've had 4 charges to my room that we did not charge and I'm still trying to get that corrected. Overall a poor experience. -Paige Garner , from Raleigh, United States - 2/7/2010

It was great to see the attention to the historical and current detail. This is a hip hotel, that I would HIGHLY recommend to others. -Laura Collins , from Orlando, United States - 12/23/2009
Wonderful Stay at The Roosevelt

We stayed at the Roosevelt Friday-Monday in one of the Cabana Rooms. The staff and valet service were very helpful and pleasant to interact with. Our view was pleasing to the eye and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. I would highly recommend staying at the Roosevelt, it is central to everything and it has a great vibe to it. -Angela Rivera , from Los Angeles, United States - 11/18/2009

Nice and trendy. The rooms need to be updated. They have old furniture. Also, the bathroom needs better lighting, my wife could not see well enough to put on make up. -Scott Coyle , from scottsdale, United States - 10/12/2009
What a Weekend

I went to the Roosevelt with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday and oh boy did I get some pleasant surprises. First of all the hotel was booked to capacity and my room was ready by 1pm when the usual check in is at 3pm. The best surprise was that I was upgraded to a poolside cabana suite from a regular cabana room. The room was beautiful and right next to the pool. I'm never booking another room if it's not through Perfect Escapes!! -Abel Tejeda , from san diego, United States - 9/24/2009

Hotel is well designed and modern. Common areas are well maintained. Pool is good size and pool area is very nice and clean. I had a poolside room which had a decent amount of space. My only major gripe was with the lighting in the room. The room is very poorly lit and was very annoying when getting dressed and when getting ready in the bathroom (shaving, etc). I guess they are going for a certain ambiance but would be nice if there was bright light at least in the bathroom. -Philip Hakim , from New York, United States - 8/17/2009

June, 2009 Stay

Our experience was just OK. After reading the reviews, the room was much as we expected. Nothing fancy but we were paying for the ambiance not the room. However, it is probably a one time pay for trip and we will stay elsewhere in the future.
We didn't have any problem with the shower door either.
When we checked in we were told we had been upgraded to a mini suite but there was only one king bed and we had 4 people so that didn't work and the room they put us in was small (not the 315 sq ft we had paid for) and facing the alley not Hollywood Blvd even though they said it did. We didn't use the pool but tried to look at it Saturday night but there was a guard who was carding everyone who approached.
We stayed for 2 nights and might have used the room for more had it been bigger and faced Hollywood rather than the alley. -Kathryn Peters , from Evansville, United States - 7/7/2009

Not Happy
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I'm sorry but what was on the pictures and what the hotel room actually looked like was so ridiculously shocking and I mean in a bad way. I stayed at the London hotel, spent an extra 50 Dollars and the room was so big and beautiful, the bathroom was spacious, so I though this might be the same, and I was in for a rude awakening. I'm sorry but I was not happy at all. And when I called to ask to have some things brought up to my room no one came. I give this hotel a very poor rating. -Kimberly Ecles , from san jose, United States - 6/11/2009

Avoid this hotel if you are doing business in LA. The Tropicana bar is very loud and the staff caters to anyone but hotel guests. Perfect Escape's deal was good but this isn't the place to go if you want to sleep. Staff forgot my welcome amenity and late checkout , but perfectscapes.com made up for the Roosevelt staff's lack of concern. This hotel has a good location for tourist activities and nightlife in Hollywood. -Jeremy, from Raleigh, United States - 8/28/2008

The only problem I found was the bathroom. There is no place to put anything, no counter space. Also the lighting is horrible to put makeup on. -Marjorie, from Baltimore, United States - 8/26/2008
