Food

The other person staying with me in the room is vegetarian, and there were not too many options for her so they need to offer more food that way. Other than that we had a great time. -Carol Brummett , from irving , United States - 12/28/2009

It is a beautiful hotel but a little pricey for the room and all the fees and parking they add to it. -Martha Salinas , from dallas, United States - 8/20/2009
Added Hidden Expenses
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
The added fee for the water, use of hotel amenities we did not use, was unacceptable. The shower head needed to be upgraded, wasn't working properly. The sign outside quotes that valet parking is 18 dollars, we were charged $24.95 , because we stayed overnight, nowhere is that on the sign. It should be less if you're an overnight guest. Other than that we had a wonderful time. The property is spotless, even with all the guests that were there, we never saw any trash or dirty areas!! We will return again sometime.

Dishonest Dealings At the Hotel
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
I booked my room several months in advance through the Perfect Escapes travel agency. When it came time for me to check out of my rooms, the hotel would not honor the rate at which I had purchased my rooms and instead charged me a higher rate (the difference being $247 for the three nights I stayed) despite all my paper work which showed my first room rate. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. -Jacob, from San Francisco, United States - 7/20/2009
Hidden Costs
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
Great hotel on a beautiful property, but beware of hidden costs. There is a $15 per day resort fee whether you use the pools/fitness center or not, as well as a $15 per day parking fee. These charges are not reflected in the room charge when making reservations online. -Susan, from Prescott, United States - 7/14/2009

Great Get-Away
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
A great get-away for an anniversary celebration. It is a wonderful way to stroll around and see the beauty that has been brought inside. The food was delicious both for dinner and breakfast. We did a little shopping and purchased a few reminders of our anniversary. Everything was great! -Jack, from Sherman, United States - 4/29/2009
Overpriced
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
This is a beautiful, sprawling hotel that is overpriced! However the biggest problem we had was that we wanted to have an early dinner and there wasn't anyplace to eat except the bar. -Gary Forbis , from Mead, United States - 4/24/2009

I planned a no kids getaway with my wife only to be disappointed with my stay. We paid over $200 for a room that the refrigerator did not work, no hot water and thin walls. We did have a relatively nice dinner at the Hickory House with the meal costing another $200 without any of the overly priced wine they had to offer. Before going to the restaurant we each had 2 $10 drinks in the sports bar and my wife showed me an outfit in 1 of the shops that cost $245 dollars when she bought it three weeks ago for $25. After retiring for the night the Glass Cactus crowd went back to their rooms which happened to be the one next to ours. We were awaken at 3:00 AM from the drunken patrons and checked out @ 3:45 AM and went home. The front desk did refund our money but explained we should have called security. If we did they would have given them two warnings and then be asked to leave. This process would take at least 2hrs. leaving us with less sleep. So after over $500 we left. -Marty Hodge, from Highland Village, United States - 2/23/2009

Overall resort was nice and I liked the convenience of the the various restaurants and the night club on the resort grounds, as well as all the extra activities. Room we received left a little to be desired. View out the large room window wasn't much of a view. Had we stayed in a room with a view over the scenery in the atrium it would've been perfect. Didn't like the extra resort and parking fees but oh well. -Adrian, from Fort Worth, United States - 2/20/2009
Anniversary At The Gaylord
 | | Overall rating: | | Value rating : | |
My wife and I celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary at the hotel, staying one night. From check-in to check-out, our experience was wonderful. The room was clean, fresh, with a very nice balcony view. We had a very nice dinner at the Ama Lur Restaurant and enjoyed the atmosphere and live music. -Richard Johnson, from Desoto, United States - 2/12/2009

We had an unbelievable time this Christmas season. It was decorated so beautifully, it would put anyone in the Christmas spirit. We really enjoyed the ice sculptures this year. We are making this a tradition for Christmas, two days just flew buy. The weather outside was very cold but we did not worry about it because the hotel was all climate controlled. The weather can not bother us if it feels great inside. See you next year. -diane davis, from silsbee, United States - 1/5/2009

Air conditioner only ran on very lowest setting and would shut off completely after about 10 minutes. After lying awake sweating I finally called front desk. A repairman came and disconnected switch on thermostat and after an hour it finally cooled down enough to sleep. Every restaurant was completely booked so we had to eat dinner at the sports bar. The hotel was lit up very pretty however. -Darin Anderson , from Pearcy, United States - 12/28/2008

Could not use our room from 2pm until 10:30pm due to traffic at hotel. Noisiest place we have ever stayed. People running and yelling in the halls until 2 am. Will not stay here again. -Larry Harris , from Howe, United States - 12/18/2008

Our hotel room was not cleaned on day two of our stay. No toilet paper left in bathroom, had to call down at front desk for it and no clean glasses were left in our room. -Dawn Compton , from Arlington , United States - 12/1/2008

The hotel was fantastic. My only minor complaint is I wish there was a better view of the lake from the hotel rooms. The facility itself is unique, I love the atrium area, especially the train. I will be visiting again. -Melissa Raines , from Nacogdoches, United States - 9/28/2008

I took my husband for their "Just the Two of Us" package. I bought it with one of their gift certificates. When we made the reservation they asked for a credit card to hold the room, no problem, I gave it to them. When we checked in I let them know I had bought a gift certificate from them for this certain package. Then they need to see a credit card for any extras that may be charged. No problem I gave them one. After all was said and done I was charged full price times 3, over $1900.00. I have been trying to get all the charges reversed. It has been a nightmare! They seem to think this is all normal business. I will NEVER use one of their hotels again. So much for that relaxing, romantic weekend! -ame jensen, from plano, United States - 9/15/2008

Our only problem was the car parking pass - it did not let us in the lot and we had to use the machine at another lot and then get it validated - we paid parking at the front desk - I guess the key did not get activated properly? -Julie, from Coppell, United States - 9/8/2008

The property is stunning - however I was shocked to see the amount of children that were at the hotel. That would have certainly made a difference in my choice. The pool area is undersized for the size of the property. My husband and I went to the pool and could barely find a place to sit with all of the people at the pool, not to mention it was overrun with kids. At the end of the day the pool was also very dirty - not very enticing to get in the water. -James Whitmer , from Arlington, United States - 8/5/2008

Venue was very "Texan" - almost overly so, but evidently that's the intent of the resort. Property was very nice; staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms were nothing extraordinary. I felt that price was higher than average for room style offered. Great restaurants - although also very pricey. -Janice, from Amarillo, United States - 4/11/2008

The hotel itself was beautiful, but the service we received was less than adequate. There were problems with our cooling system, and the hotel basically left it up to us to handle and they never checked back with us to see if our problem was taken care of. We also had no hot water in our bathroom sinks, only our shower. I didn't think that a hotel of this caliber handled these situations adequately. -Camille Emory , from Richardson, United States - 12/14/2007

We purchased a standard room...it exceeded my expectations. The entire stay for us was a worthwhile adventure. The staff was friendly & accommodating; housekeeping staff prompt and well-trained.
The only fault we found with the entire resort was not enough medium-priced eating venues or snack venues for families with not a lot of extra spending money. -Jerrilyn Marlette , from Shreveport, United States - 12/2/2007

When leaving the hotel, it is so surprising to have to pay an additional daily $10 charge that nobody talk you about when making the reservation!... No honest!

I was there for a conference and had a wonderful time. I was working the time I was there and I spent little time in my room. I felt like I was on vacation. I lost my credit card and the staff was amazing in the way they were diligent in making sure I had my card back in hand. I was very thankful. -Sharon Ward , from GARLAND, United States - 11/19/2007
