Overview
The Raphael is the younger sibling of the Majestic, which was the largest hotel in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. The Majestic, located at the foot of the Arc de Triumphe, was an immense hotel with 450 rooms, all with private bathrooms, a rare luxury at the time. It was built in 1907 by Leonard Tauber and Constant Baverez, and was such a great success that the two men decided in the 1920's to open a second hotel near the first. They wanted it to be even more luxurious and exclusive and that is how the Raphael was born!
Today the great Majestic Hotel of 1907 is nothing but a memory, but the Raphael is still very much alive, and much appreciated by guests from all over the world for its discretion, quality of service and prestige. It is still in the hands of the Baverez family; Francoise, granddaughter of Constant, now watches over its destiny, paying careful attention to the smallest details, supervising the renovation of a room or the creation of a suite. This is the secret of the Raphael: it's a palace graced with the personal touch one usually finds only in small family run hotels.
