Overview
Villa La Massa is a fascinating Medici dwelling of the 16th century on the outskirts of Florence. In 1950 it was turned into a hotel and continues with its five hundred years of history, to tell us tales of Renaissance splendour and the lifestyle of Florentine aristocrats.
The hotel offers its guests 37 rooms, all different from one another, and all recently refurbished in the traditional Florentine style. The spacious and airy rooms are decorated with antique furniture, fabrics woven at the historic Florentine textile mills, wrought iron and woodwork from the famous old-time Florence cabinet makers. Bathrooms and their fittings are done in a style reflecting the atmosphere of times gone and are fitted with Carrara marble. Most have windows framing the beautiful Tuscan landscape.
Under the direction of Executive Chef Andrea Quagliarella, menus include both Tuscan regional specialties and Mediterranean specialities, thus offering a broad daily choice. The sommeliers have chosen up to 250 labels among those best representing the Italian wine culture, with a special focus on Tuscan wines. Attention is focused on the use of organic products and all the foodstuffs purchased are of absolute prime quality.

Take A1 MOTORWAY BOLOGNA-ROMA direction ROMA and exit FIRENZE SUD. Pay toll and go ahead for 1km until exit right to BAGNO A RIPOLI. Follow direction BAGNO A RIPOLI-PONTASSIEVE and CANDELI-ROSANO-PONTASSIEVE. Once you see the CANDELI sign on your right, turn left at the traffic light in Via della Massa until you see HOTEL entrance.
From The South - From ROMA - FIUMICINO AIRPORT - 270km. Approx. 2.5hrs driving time:
Follow directions to A1 AUTOSTRADA (motorway)green sign. Take A1 motorway direction FIRENZE and exit FIRENZE SUD. Pay toll and go ahead for 1km until exit right to BAGNO A RIPOLI. Follow direction BAGNO A RIPOLI-PONTASSIEVE and CANDELI-ROSANO-PONTASSIEVE. Once you see the CANDELI sign on your right, turn left at the traffic light in Via della Massa until you see HOTEL entrance.
From The West - From PISA-GALILEO GALILEI AIRPORT - 85km, approx. 1hr drive:
Take the PISA-FIRENZE SUPERSTRADA -EXPRESSWAY BLUE SIGN ( FI-PI-LI)- Direction FIRENZE and continue for about 85km and exit at FIRENZE SCANDICCI. Take the A1 MOTORWAY BOLOGNA-ROMA direction ROMA. Exit FIRENZE SUD - Pay toll and go ahead for 1km until exit right to BAGNO A RIPOLI. Follow direction BAGNO A RIPOLI-PONTASSIEVE and CANDELI-ROSANO-PONTASSIEVE. Once you see the CANDELI sign on your right, turn left at the traffic light in Via della Massa until you see HOTEL entrance.
