Disappointed in 'Luxury' Room

The carpet in the room needs to be replaced. It was very old and no longer laid flat to the extent it was easy to trip on it. Ironically, this room was much more expensive than the last we booked which obviously had been upgraded. Overall, if we stay there again, I will make CERTAIN that the accommodation we have been assigned to meets our expectations for a hotel with the reputation this hotel enjoys.

Stately Charm

The Hotel Du Pont is a very stately, elegant hotel. The room was luxurious and large and the bathroom nicely equipped. Dinner at the hotel was wonderful, but pricey. Breakfast could use some improvement.

Excellent Weekend

The room was clean, large, comfortable, and simply wonderful. The shower was a bit small, made for one. The tub made up for the lack of shower room. Room service was more than expected; the food was five star quality. Hotel DuPont is a gem hidden in Wilmington.

My reservation was accurate, my included breakfast was not a problem. I did not like that you can only get cold foods after 10pm. I ordered a club sandwich which apparently was made hours before and refrigerated. The bread was cold and soggy. I could not eat it. I requested and received toast and was able to make my own sandwich. The upgraded room was beautiful, I wish my reservation had been for a longer period.

Parking and check-in were flawless. Room was luxurious and well-appointed. Lunch in the Green Room was excellent. Directions to Winterthur were correctly given. Dinner and service again in the Green Room was excellent. The room overnight was quite and restful in spite of two wedding receptions being held.

Directions:
From New Castle Airport
Turn left onto Route 13 North, toward Wilmington.
Follow Route 13 North into Wilmington, which turns into Walnut Street.
Follow Walnut Street to 10th Street, and turn left.
Follow 10th Street to Orange Street, and turn right.
Turn right onto 11th Street; Hotel du Pont is on the right.
From Philadelphia International Airport
Take I-95 South into Delaware (approximately 15 miles).
Follow I-95 South to Exit 7A marked "52 South, Delaware Avenue." This is 11th Street. The Hotel du Pont is 7 blocks ahead, on the right.
From the Wilmington train station
From underneath the railroad tracks on French Street, cross over the Martin Luther King Boulevard to the second light.
Make a left onto 2nd Street, and follow to Orange Street.
Make a right onto Orange Street.
Follow Orange Street to 11th Street, and make a right. The Hotel du Pont is on the right at 11th and Market.
