Great but Expensive Food

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. All in all, we were happy with the experience. Here are the pros and cons...Pros: Facility is nice,
staff is outstanding,lots of activities, beach is very shallow and goes out a long way. Great for kids.
East to get to from.
Nice breeze makes it feel cooler than it is. Fitness center was great. Cons: Pool is small and crowded, beds are hard, price of food is outrageous for what you get. 280 for a beach BBQ? The best hotels in Abu Dhabi do not charge that and they have much more to choose from.
Room service took and hour and food was cold. Order was wrong and we were made to feel as if we had done something wrong when we complained.
We were called at 9:30 at night to remind us that check out for the next day was at noon. The call woke up our kids.

A Good Thing for Some

Since my wife is pregnant and it was my daughter's spring break, I didn't want to fly, put up with Dubai traffic or the construction pit it has become, or drive for half a day or more to have a short get away. When my wife told me that she found ( after a mention from a friend) a 5-star resort for around $265 a night, I thought not bad on short notice, and only a 2 hour 15 minute drive. However upon checking in I discovered that there was a 200AED +16% charge to roll a bad small bed into the room and that breakfast was not included in Emirates Palace prices, that pretty much killed the trip for me. Also, thought about playing tennis with my daughter and the health club wanted 25AED times 2, just to use 2 racquets. I think I will stay at the Shangri La or the Palace and for a little more money not make the drive and get the extras for free.

TAKE THE EXIT TO JEBEL DHANNA AND KEEP STRAIGHT THE FIRST EXIT ON THE RIGHT WILL BE TO ROAD GOING TO DANAT RESORT JEBEL DHANNA. THE RESORT WILL BE SEEN ON LEFT SIDE.
